What happened on Lasan, it's over for me. I've moved on. By the way, it's Zeb. My name, it's Zeb.
―Garazeb Orrelios

Garazeb "Zeb" Orrelios is a large Lasat, who serves as the muscle of the Ghost crew. He is very skilled in hand-to-hand combat and is known to have a short temper, especially when he and Ezra butt heads against one another.

Background[]

Born on Lasan, Garazeb Orrelios was the captain of Lasan High Honor Guard, until the day his people were wiped out by the empire, but Zeb miraculously survived and since sworn to avenge his people.

Personality[]

Zeb is gruff, agitated, and violent, but behind this outward guise Zeb is actually a compassionate and selfless being who cares a great deal for his fellow members of the Ghost, and for people affected negatively by the Empire. Like the rest of his crew, he is sympathetic towards the victims of the Empire.

Despite his essentially good heart, Zeb is short-tempered and often commits rash actions which often gets him into trouble. Zeb tries to appear stoic and serious, but also has a good dry sense of humor and occasionally shows a more childish side. His skills are an asset to his crew, but his aggressive and impulsive nature occasionally causes trouble.

As the former captain of the Lasan Honor Guard, Zeb is a warrior, as he has a sense of honor and good morals. Zeb has a deep hatred for the Galactic Empire, due to the fact that they pushed his species nearly to the brink of extinction without mercy or remorse.

Powers and Abilities[]

Powers[]

  • Lasat Strength: Like many of his kind, Zeb is physically stronger than most other sentient beings. Its strength is approximately equal with a Wookie or a Trandoshan.
  • Lasat Speed: Like many of his kind, Zeb's physical speed and agility can match that of most Force-users.
  • Lasat Resilience: Like many of his kind, Zeb has a huge amount of resilience.
  • Lasat Eyesight: Like many of his kind, Zeb can see very clearly at night.

Abilities[]

  • Expert Hand-To-Hand Combatant: As the former captain of the Lasan Honor Guard, Zeb is extremely skilled in unarmed combat, as he has defeated many Stormtroopers relatively easily. He was able to fight a Trandoshan bigger than himself. Zeb can also stand up to Rukh, also a skilled master fighter.
  • Expert Staff Fighter: As the former captain of the Lasan Honor Guard, Zeb is extremely skilled in staff fighting.
  • Expert Marksman: As the former captain of the Lasan Honor Guard, Zeb is extremely skilled in utitlizing blaster rifles.

Weapons and Equipment[]

Blaster/Electrostaff[]

  • AB-75 bo-rifle: Zeb utilizes an AB-75 bo-rifle as his weapon of choice.

Appearances[]

Star Wars Rebels[]

Season 1[]

Zeb ended up lost in the allies on Lothal, looking for Kanan. He came across two Stormtroopers interrogating a citizen and just before they could arrest him, Zeb knocked them out, just as more troops showed up and chased after him.

Zeb found his way to a landed TIE Fighter. He took out the pilot and then engaged the Stormtroopers in physical combat. He easily defeated the troops when the pilot Valen Rudor held a blaster at him ordering for reinforcements. Zeb outwitted Rudhor and took him out again just as more troopers arrived and fire. As a result, their random firing caused a leak in the TIE fighter's tank and one laser blast at the highly explosive fuel caused the Fighter to blow up. Zeb survived the explosion but then saw more troopers coming his way but ready for them.

Zeb was involved in a hijack of Imperial crates with Kanan Jarrus and Sabine Wren. When Ezra stole their goods, Zeb and Kanan went after him. Under Kanan's orders, he evaded the pursue and was left with the stolen crates, saying he will end Ezra if Kanan caught him. Zeb and his fellow Rebels regrouped aboard their ship the Ghost and picked up Ezra as he was being chased by TIE Fighters. Zeb and Ezra were soon butting heads and when Ezra made fun of his smell, Zeb dragged him by the legs and threw him into a closet.

Zeb and Ezra arguing

Zeb arguing with Ezra.

Zeb and the Rebels were able to escape their perusers and return to Lothal where they landed near Tarkintown, named after Grand Moff Tarkin and homed to farmers who lost their farmlands to the Empire. Zeb along with Sabine and Ezra delivered three of their stolen crates full of food to the people of Tarkintown and soon after returned to the ship on another mission, to rescue Wookiee prisoners. They arrived and docked with an Imperial Transport ship and the Rebels had Zeb pose as a hairless Wookiee. However the troopers didn't buy it, only because Zeb didn't give them a chance and took them out with a single punch against their heads. Unfortunately, Zeb and the Rebels had no idea they were walking into a trap until Ezra came to warn them. When Ezra got captured by Agent Kallus, Zeb regretfully abandoned him so they could escape, but not before telling Ezra he did good. His fellow Rebels were not pleased with him leaving Ezra behind and out of three votes, they returned to rescue him.

After rescuing Ezra, Zeb accompanied his fellow Rebels in rescuing the Wookiees on Kessel. At the point where they were cornered by the Imperials, it is here Zeb was aware of Kanan's Jedi identity. Zeb and the Rebels successfully rescued the Wookiees and after sending them on their way, returned Ezra home until he decided to join their crew.

Droids in Distress 72

Zeb in a Bo-Rifle duel against Agent Kallus.

Some of Zeb's past is revealed in "Droids in Distress" Where he and the Rebels were involved in stealing weaponry shipment for the Empire. Much to his horror, the shipment were crates loaded with T-7 Ion Disruptors: a series of weapons that were banned by the senate for they were capable of short circuiting a ship or a vehicle but to Zeb that was not the real reason why they were banned. According to Hera, Zeb feared those weapons because they were once used against his people when the Imperials cleared his home world. Few Lasats barely survived and none remained on Lasan.

Zeb soon found out it was Agent Kallus who was responsible for the usage of the disruptors against his people and engaged him in a vicious Bo-Rifle duel. He was overpowered and just as he was about to meet his end, he was saved by Ezra, who Force-pushed Kallus away from him.

Since Ezra joined their small Rebellion against the Empire, Zeb was forced to share his cabin with him and at the time of "Fighter Flight" he continued to treat him like an outcast and the two them often got into fights with each other. However, Zeb's relationship with Ezra improved overtime, and the two of them became close friends but still had their quarrels every once in a while, mostly caused by Chopper.

Season 2[]

Ahsoka Tano sent Zeb and his friend to meet with an old friend on the desert world of Seelos, who might know where to find such bases. Upon arriving in the Seelos system, the Ghost was damaged. While Hera and Chopper stayed behind to repair the ship, Zeb and the other rebels descended into the planet in the Phantom. They met three old people, who turned out to be Clone Troopers named Rex, Wolfe, and Gregor. After a brief altercation, the rebels with the exception of Kanan began to trust the Clone who agreed to help them find a base in exchange for a small service: the helpers in the Joopa hunt.

The Lost Commanders 34

Zeb caught by Big Bungo.

To his surprise, Zeb is the bait without being warned and is quickly swallowed by the Joopa named Big Bongo. Luckily for him, his friends manage to kill the creature before it digests it. Gregor congratulates Zeb on his role, but the Lasat is angry because he was nearly devoured, so Gregor let him know that he helped catch the biggest Joopa, which calms Zeb.

Some time after their mission, The Ghost Crew will visit Nixus Hub 218, for a mission to find refugees. Much to Zeb's astonishment, the refugees are surviving Lasats. After the rebels have defeated the stormtroopers, The Lasats are known as Chava the wise and Gron, recognize Zeb as the captain of the Lasan Honor Guard, Gron having also been a member of the Honor Guard under the command of Zeb. The two Lasats asked the Specters to take them to Lira San, a world that Zeb doesn't believe exists. On the journey to the mysterious planet, the two Lasats' faith in him only reminds Zeb of his guilt for failing to save Lasan and his people but Ezra is able to encourage him to help Chava complete the ritual to find Lira San thanks to his Bo-Rifle. Once the Ghost reaches Lira San, Zeb briefly descends to the planet before returning to the ship, revealing to his friends that Lira San is his people's true homeworld and that there are still Lasats living there.

The Honorable Ones 01

Zeb makes peace with Kallus.

During a mission in orbit of Geonosis, Zeb and Kallus find themselves stranded on the moon Bahryn, Kallus injured in the leg and Zeb choosing not to end him since it would not be honorable. Threatened by the cold, the two rivals exchange their contradictory opinion on the Empire, Zeb seeing nothing but oppression and tyranny while mentioning the siege of Lasan. After an attack by Bonzami, Zeb and Kallus join forces to exit the underground cave and send out a distress signal. Kallus then admits that he was never really responsible for the Lasats massacre and that he never thought it would end like this. Zeb is able to forgive Kallus, a strong bond having been created between them during this ordeal, and he decries that what happened on Lasan is in the past before the duo parted ways.

The Phoenix Squadron later settles on Atollon to build a rebel base there, but must repel the attack of the Kryknas when they arrive. Following a mission by Kanan, Ezra and Ahsoka to the Sith world Malachor, Zeb is present when the Phantom returns but is saddened to see that only Kanan and Ezra have returned and that Kanan has lost his sight.

Season 3[]

Zeb with Ezra, Chopper, and Sabine, infiltrate an imperial prison located on Naraka to rescue the pirate Weequay, Hondo Ohnaka for the information he has. After releasing Hondo and his cellmate Terba, the rebels fled to the exit but were ambushed and Terba was killed trying to flee. They still managed to get by with Hondo and then returned to Atollon. Later, the Rebels manage to steal several Y-wings from Reklam Station but the Phantom is destroyed in the process.

Kalani 1

Zeb as Kalani's hostage.

While exploring Agamar, Ezra, Rex, Kanan and Zeb are captured by the Separatist remnant led by General Kalani and are forced to participate in a re-enactment of the Clone Wars, with Zeb serving as a hostage to rescue. As an Imperial Destroyer flies over their position, the Rebels and Separatists are able to team up to escape the base, with the foursome gaining a Sheathipede shuttle as their new Phantom.

The Spectres would have many missions by then, such as evacuating sympathizers on Mykapo, trying to recover proton bombs from a drifting Imperial freighter on Wynkahthu, investigating the eradication of the population of Geonosis and transporting the senator Mon Mothma to the rallying point where the Rebel Alliance then forms.

At the height of the rebels' attack on the TIE production facility on Lothal, Atollon is surrounded by Grand Admiral Thrawn's fleet, leaving the Rebels to suffer continued assault and near defeat. Despite some casualties and with the help of the Mandalorian clan of Sabine, the Phoenix Squadron manage to escape from Atollon for Yavin 4, the crew of the Ghost recovering an escaped Kallus from Thrawn's Destroyer, the former ISB agent having become an informant for the rebels after Zeb opened his eyes when they were stuck on Bahryn.

Season 4[]

Zeb and his friends return to Lothal to plan the new attack on the Imperial factory, discovering in horror what the Empire has inflicted on the planet. The crew of the Ghost notably takes control of a Mining Guild ore crawler and Zeb confronts the foreman Trandoshan in a fierce hand-to-hand fight ending in the death of the Trandoshan.

Following Hera's capture by Thrawn, Zeb remains with the Lothal rebels while Kanan, Sabine, and Ezra infiltrate Capital City. After the rescue, Zeb learns to his great sadness that Kanan had perished in the destruction of the TIE factory. He and Sabine subsequently begin a personal vendetta against the Empire, bringing them into conflict with Rukh, Thrawn's right-hand man. The pair eventually confront the Noghri after dark but are caught off guard by its invisibility device. Sabine manages to brand Rukh with paint and Zeb nearly beats him to death until Sabine stops him from going too far, knowing Kanan wouldn't have wanted that.

Kanan's mourning slowly digested and understanding that the Yavin base will no longer send them reinforcements, Zeb and his friends are taken by the Loth-wolves to the Lothal Jedi Temple now under Imperial control. Despite the involvement of the Emperor himself, the Specters manage to put a spoke in the wheels of the Imperials and cause the collapse of the temple.

Family Reunion and Farewell 09

Zeb, Gregor and Kallus making their way through the Imperial compound.

On the day of the attack, the rebels are apparently sold by Ryder Azadi to Governor Arihnda Pryce but this turns out to be a ruse, with the Imperial forces ultimately defeated with the help of the Loth-wolves. Infiltrating the Imperial compound, Zeb plays the restless prisoner causing the first diversion to enter the base. Although the entire mission is initially successful, Thrawn later dares to bombard the city to force the rebels to surrender, as the compound's shields have been sabotaged by Rukh. After Ezra turns himself in against his friends' advice, Zeb helps Kallus, Rex, and Gregor storm the power station room and confront Rukh once more. The Lasat is able to jam the Noghri in the vent and exit before the shields reignite, watching Rukh die of electrocution. The Rebels then return each ship and Stormtroopers to the compound using a security protocol, activate the thrusters, and blast the compound in mid-air with Pryce in it, finally freeing Lothal from Imperial tyranny. Meanwhile, Zeb is saddened by Ezra's disappearance in hyperspace with Thrawn by the Purggils to an unknown destination.

Family Reunion and Farewell 29

After the Rebel Alliance defeats the Empire, Zeb takes Kallus to Lira San.

Five years after Lothal's liberation and shortly after the Empire's total defeat, Zeb takes Kallus to Lira San where he shows her that the Lasat species still lives and that his former rival is welcome among them.

The Mandalorian[]

More than four years after the Death Star II was destroyed, Zeb was relaxing in a bar on Adelphi as Captain Carson Teva viewed a holographic message from Magistrate Greef Karga of Nevarro asking for help against the Gorian Shard's pirates who had invaded the planet, with Zeb expressing that he believed Nevarro would make it through as an independent world. As Teva intends to request resources from the New Republic, Zeb warns him that he won't get an answer in time, forcing Teva to decide to go there in person, a rash act that Zeb hoped would work.
