All the wome in the kingdom have been invited to a ball at the castle, and Lady Tremaine allows Cinderella to attend it, provided that she gets all her work done and has a nice dress by then. Cinderella thinks about fixing up her mother's old dress and wearing it to the ball, before her stepfamily calls her down to serve them. Jaq, knowing full-well that they're going to run her ragged before she can have time improve the dress, laments that it'll be impossible for her to go to the ball. Then, one of the mice gets the idea to for them all fix up the dress while she's working and surprise Cinderella later that evening.
Night and day it's Cinderelly
Make the fire!
Fix the breakfast!
Wash the dishes!
Do the mopping!
And the sweeping and the dusting!
They always keep me hopping!
She goes around in circles till she's very, very dizzy
Still they holler, keep her busy Cinderelly!
We can do it, we can do it,
We can help our Cinderelly
We can make a dress so pretty
There's nothing to it really.
We'll tie a sash around it
Pull a ribbon through it
When dancing at the ball
She'll be more beautiful than all
In the lovely dress we'll make for Cinderelly
Hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry
Gotta help our Cinderelly
Got no time to dilly dally
We gotta get it going
I'll cut it with these scissors
And I can do the sewing
Leave the sewing to the women
You go get some trimming
And we'll make a lovely dress for Cinderelly
Yes, we'll make a lovely dress for Cinderelly!
- In the Chowder episode "Shnitzel Quits", the three rats sings "Schnitzel-Fella", which sounds similar to "The Work Song".
