Winnie the Pooh: A Valentine for You is a 1999 animated musical comedy-drama film and a Valentine's Day television special. It was originally broadcast on February 13, 1999. It was the last Winnie the Pooh production to feature Paul Winchell as the voice of Tigger, before his retirement and death from natural causes on June 24, 2005, six years after this television special was made.
It was initially broadcast as a one-hour special, where the timeslot was filled by the Pooh short, "Groundpiglet Day" and three shorts from the then-upcoming Mickey Mouse Works TV show: "Pluto Gets the Paper: Bubble Gum", "Mickey's New Car", and "Maestro Minnie: William Tell Overture". It was released on January 11, 2000 on VHS, then re-released on January 9, 2001 on VHS, along with Rolie Polie Olie: Happy Hearts Day, and re-released on January 8, 2002 on VHS along with A Valentine for Eeyore. It was released on DVD only in 2004 as a double feature with The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh episodes "Un-Valentine's Day" and "Three Little Piglets", then re-released on the same format on January 5, 2010 with the same two episodes as the 2004 DVD and the bonus episode "My Hero". It was released on Disney+ in February 11, 2022.
When Pooh and his friends discover that Christopher Robin has fallen in love with a girl, they believe that he won't have time for them anymore. After Owl tells them about the "love bug", the gang decides to find one to cure Christopher Robin of his "lovesickness". But Pooh decides to let the bug go so Christopher Robin can be happy with who he has now. The next morning, however, Pooh and his friends receive Valentine cards from Christopher Robin and they learn there's room in the heart for friends both old and new.
It is unusual that the residents of the Hundred Acre Wood not know what a girl is as they all collectively know Kanga (ironically, the only female member of the group), who is noticeably absent along with Roo. This was most likely done on purpose for the sake of the special's story.
This movie features the 1926 plush versions of the gang, instead of the Disney versions.
Since this marks Paul Winchell's final performance as Tigger's speaking voice, this marks the final time Jim Cummings only provided the singing voice of Tigger before taking over the role entirely, also marking the final time Paul Winchell worked with Jim Cummings.
This movie features the Walt Disney Television Red/Orange/Yellow Castle logo on a purple background.
This is the last Winnie the Pooh television special and the last appearance of Gopher in a Winnie the Pooh television project.
