Thank you for pointing out the problem with the ads at Wikicities:Community portal. I've blocked medical-central.org and medicalhelpers.com which were two sites I noticed here that were obviously not appropriate for this wiki. Please let me know if there are others and I can prevent ads for them appearing on Wikicities. If it is more a general issue rather than particular URLs causing problems, I'd suggest writing to Google Adsense about it since they control the ads, and are perhaps not aware of the inappropriateness of some of them. Hi, Evan!

The former Wikipedia "Lucky 6.9" writing here at work. How've you been? I was walking around Disneyland this weekend and got to thinking how much fun a Disney theme park wiki would be...and here you go and beat me to the idea.  :) My original idea was to go into the kind of detail that Wikipedia wouldn't allow, namely articles on individual restaurants, shops, unique merchandise and such. Categorizing them would be a cinch and I've done a bunch of expansion on Disneyland-related articles at Wikipedia which could easily be moved here. Feel free to respond here on your talk page. I'll likely sign up here under the user name of "PMDrive1061" since I'm tired of the "Lucky" handle. I'm still using that name over at the radio control wiki where I'm a bureaucrat. Hello, you may remember me from when there was a possible name change to Mickeypedia. Well, I am an administrator over at a wiki for Star Wars Games, called SWGames, and we are looking for Official Friends. I don't know if you are looking for any, but it would be an honor to be friends with a wiki like this. I myself think it is a great wiki, and very informative. • Well I'm glad you like the idea! Again, I think the Disney Wiki is great, and if you would like to talk more about this, I encourage you to join our IRC channel. You can use whatever provider you would like, but if you are new to the IRC, I suggest you use http://www.ircatwork.com. All you have to do, is type the username you wish to use, type irc.freenode.net in the server area, then type #swgames in the channel name. From there, we can start the negotion process. Hi. I was just thinking that you should change the title of this Wiki to something like: "Mickeypedia", keeping with the theme of rhyming with or sounding like "Wikipedia" (e.g.- "Wookieepedia" for Star Wars). Just an idea- don't feel obligated or anything. Kanogul ^(talk) 20:12, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Deleting animated shorts pages

Hi Evan -- I think it's pretty harsh deleting the animated shorts stubs that User:Pantalones created. Yes, they were stubs, but they were real content, and Peter worked hard to create all of those. There aren't very many active contributors here, and it's a shame to discourage somebody who's obviously interested in contributing information. -- Danny (talk) 01:49, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Well, they did have content, in the sense that they had category tags. Basically, Peter was creating a lot of stub pages for all of the animated shorts, so that it would be easy for him (and other people) to expand those into full articles. -- Danny (talk) 22:00, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Guys, I deleted them because, even though they had category tags, they had no content. There were probably 200 articles, and that is a LOT of articles to create just to work on in the future. I didn't do it to be mean, but it is my opinion need blank articles on the Wiki. The point is to provide information. Blank articles provide no information. I did not delete any articles that he had already added content to. To justify, any blank article on Wikipedia would get deleted, would it not? I'm sorry if you find my actions harsh, and next time, I'll try to get a public opinion on the DisneyWiki forum, okay? --Evan 01:04, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Hey Evan - sorry I didn't respond personally to you earlier, but I was frustrated and just needed some time away. Anyway, I was mostly disappointed that I didn't get a chance to explain myself before the pages were deleted. See, most of my experience has been on Muppet Wiki, where I've been an administrator since it started. And while it is true that we probably would discourage articles with nothing but Category tags at this point, it was something we definitely encouraged at the beginning, as we found that people are more likely to add to a page that already exists than to create a new one on their own. Whereas Muppet Wiki is now very thorough in terms of the basic pages, Disney Wiki isn't yet - it's very light, in fact, in terms of animation - and the pages with category tags do have information. They might not say "Birds in Spring is a Silly Symphony" but the tag carries the same information. Also, the Category page then becomes a list of all the Silly Symphony shorts, for example, which I think is very useful to have. Anyway, it's your Wiki, and I'll definitely keep from adding "blank" articles from now on - but in retrospect, I would really like to have been able to have my piece before they were deleted rather than after. -- Peter (talk) 17:51, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Hi Evan! It's been a while since I've been active here and I see that you're the only active admin anymore. I just wanted to let you know that Wikia will be turning on an ad unit for the front page of the wiki which will make the format look funny unless I add some code to keep the columns separate. So if you see some tags you're not familiar with, that's why.

I'm also intersted in hearing about how things are going here. I started some cartoon shorts filmographies a while back here, but I haven't been around enough to see how the community has grown. If you've got anything you need help with from an administrative viewpoint, please let me know. Is vandalism still a problem? I can help you figure out how to deal with stuff like that. Hi Evan! I noticed this wiki appears to have a lot of vandalism by anonymous editors. You might like to know that you have the option to require users to log in to edit the wiki. We've been doing it that way on Muppet Wiki for some time now with stonrg results. Vandals don't usually bother to log in just to create nonsense, so it makes that process for them a little harder. The vandals who do log in are easier to track and block as their usernames are much easier to identify. Let me know if you want to enable this feature, and I can take care of that for you.
