So what's the deal with the Beast/Prince's "real name" being Adam?

The film's crew mentioned in the DVD commetary that, when Belle calls him "Beast" in the climax, they'd overlooked giving the Prince an actual name; they even mentioned they put little effort in designing his human form because the audience already fell in love with his beastly form. Yet, despite that, he was called Adam in a few sparse merchandise items.

Given that the live-action Cinderella gave the title character a "real name," Ella, that was thrown around a lot in fanfiction, I'm guessing they're going to make Adam the Prince's name in the new Beauty and the Beast.
