This article is about the episode from Adventures of the Gummi Bears. For other episodes, see Trading Faces.
"Trading Faces" is the sixty-fourth episode of the Adventures of the Gummi Bears. It premiered on February 19, 1991, and is the sixteenth episode of the sixth and final season.
Plot[]
While thwarting yet one more attempt of Igthorn to claim rulership with the Gummies helping secretly, Sir Tuxford is injured, landing on Gruffi when he accidentally triggers one of the traps in Gummi Glen.
With the Captain of the Guard out of action, Sir Victor is called in to defend Dunwyn for the period of Tuxford's recovery. Meanwhile, Gruffi decides that protecting Dunwyn themselves is getting too dangerous and insists his community stop. However, Grammi insists that he tell Cavin and Princess Calla himself, quietly confident that he will not be able to bring himself to do it.
Victor proves effective in enforcing the castle's security, but Igthorn hits upon a plan to use his likeness to his brother to conquer Dunwyn after all. To do so, he lures and captures Victor to steal his clothes as a disguise, with further orders to Toadwart to kill both him and his steed, Destiny.
In Dunwyn Castle, Duke Igthorn has some difficulty finding King Gregor, but his disguise is effective enough with only Cavin and Calla becoming suspicious. Meanwhile, Gruffi finds himself hesitant to disappoint his human friends, but is forced to hide in Cavin's quarters with the castle's occupants being too numerous in the area to sneak out. After dealing with a banquet in his brother's honor, Duke Igthorn eventually kidnaps Gregor.
Soon, Zummi comes to convince Gruffi to stop his abandonment of Dunwyn, but the argument is put on hold when Cavin arrives to tell them his suspicions about Victor's strange behavior. Cavin soon tells them that the King and Victor are missing, and the three finally realize the deception.
Fortunatley, Toadwart in Drekmore delays kiling Victor and Destiny to torment them, allowing Gruffi and Zummi to secretly rescue them. Now, with Victor riding Destiny through the castle in his underwear, they meet Cavin, and Victor gets the idea of turning tables and impersonating Duke Igthorn. The trick works, Duke Igthorn is defeated, and the Gummies and Dunwynians escape.
At the end, King Gregor decorates Victor for his bravery, while Cavin tells Gruffi that the good knight could not have succeeded without his help. To that, Gruffi decides that helping defend Dunwyn is worthwhile after all.

Trivia[]
- Tummi and Sunni Gummi briefly appear, but neither character has any lines.
- "Trading Faces" is coincidentally also the name of a Darkwing Duck, a Kim Possible, and a Penn Zero episode.
- Animation production for the sixth and final season was distributed among several different studios. While Walt Disney Animation Japan, Inc. is still credited responsible for production, this episode was animated by the South Korean studio Taesang Ind. Co., Ltd.
- Internationally, the sixth season follows a slightly different order (likely following the intended production order more closely), as the events from the (preceding) two-parter "King Igthorn", are canonically set after the events of this episode.
