Timothy Alan Dick (born June 13, 1953), better known as Tim Allen, is an American comedian, actor, voice-over artist, and entertainer who is famous for providing the voice of Buzz Lightyear in the highly successful Toy Story trilogy.
Film
In 1991, Allen made a Disney debut in the Touchstone Pictures television program Home Improvement. His first movie was as the titular character in the first Santa Clause film. The success of this film allowed him to reprise his role in the film's following two sequels, The Santa Clause 2 in 2002 and The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause in 2006.
In 1995, Allen's theatrical fame skyrocketed when he claimed his role as Buzz Lightyear in the first Toy Story film, starring alongside Tom Hanks. He later reprised his role as Lightyear in 1999, and most recently in 2010. All three of the films gained universal acclaim from film critcs, and Toy Story 3 became the first animated film in history to gross over 1 billion dollars in international revenue. Prior to the release of the third film, Allen returned to his role as Buzz Lightyear for the 2000 spin-off film, Buzz Lightyear of Star Command. However, this film was not released to theatres, but directly to DVD instead.
In 2006, Allen landed another leading role as Dave Douglas in The Shaggy Dog.
He narrated the 2012 Disneynature documentrary film Chimpanzee.
