"The Untitled Milo Kamalani Project" is the 25th episode of the fourth season of Pepper Ann. It aired on February 23, 2000.

Synopsis[]

When the "Turned Off Artichokes" arranges a competition for the new cover for its latest album, Milo enters the contest as a joke -- and ends up winning.

Plot[]

Pepper Ann, Nicky and Milo see an ad from the band Nebulous Frittata asking fans to create a new album cover for them. While Milo is only half-heartedly interested, Pepper Ann and Nicky continue to pester him about it until Milo takes off his sock, staples it to a piece of cardboard and mails it. Afterwards, the three are sitting at home when Milo suddenly gets a call telling him that not only has he won, but that he also received his own art studio to work in while Pepper Ann and Nicky hang out and watch TV.

Milo soon starts becoming a sensation with every little thing he does considered "art" in one way or another, despite him making no effort to create any whatsoever. He starts to get invited to parties and meets his idol, filmmaker Cameron Landisburg who takes him under his wing in handling art fame. Milo gets invited onto a talk show, but when the stage director balks at his appearance, Milo adopts white hair and a strange wardrobe to come out in. Pepper Ann and Nicky are both shocked that he would do such a thing as he cuts ties from them in the art world.

While hanging out with a group of artists, Milo encounters a street artist and is touched by his honesty about art and money and opts to leave the art scene for good. Milo meets back up with Pepper Ann and Nicky and apologizes for abandoning them. Meanwhile, Landisburg approaches his producer about his recent activity (Milo mentioned that he was in a creative flux) and says that he will not do another movie unless he "return[s] to [his] roots." They laugh it off and return to being shallow entertainers.
