"The Ukumbusho Tradition" is the thirty-sixth episode of the Disney Junior animated series The Lion Guard. It premiered on October 27, 2017 and is the tenth episode in the second season.
Plot[]
Ma Tempo's herd is getting ready for Ukumbusho, a performance celebrating the friendship between the Herd and Simba's Pride, and the Lion Guard and Makini is helping them out. The Lion Guard is starring in the show as the first Lion Guard and Makini is painting the elephants with paint made from fruit. Ma Tempo wants it to be perfect as it's the first Ukumbusho since Scar destroyed the old Lion Guard and Simba will be there. However, trouble erupts almost immediately: Makini doesn't know which fruit to start making paint with and the Lion Guard isn't all Lions like the old Lion Guard and their acting is hammy and off-cue. Timon and Pumbaa show up to help get everything back on track. Makini makes some yellow paint from bananas which she uses to paint Fuli, Bunga, Beshte, and Ono to look like Lions.
Timon and Pumbaa coach the Lion Guard but they still have trouble mostly because Bunga can't remember his lines. Meanwhile, Makini runs out of yellow paint due to using most of it on the Lion Guard. Kion proposes that Makini go into the forest to find more yellow fruit to make more yellow paint. Makini goes into the forest but can't find any yellow fruit. So she grabs some yellows flowers and uses them to make yellow paint. Simba shows up and Ukumbusho begins.
Suddenly, bees attack and scare Ma Tembo's herd causing a stampede. Eventually the Guard realizes that the bees are attracted by the pollen in the yellow paint on the elephants. They tell the elephants to blast the paint off with their trunks. The elephants do so and the bees leave. Ukumbusho then proceeds as planned.
