The Nifty Nineties is a Technicolor Mickey Mouse cartoon released in 1940.

Plot

Set in the 1890s, it's love at first sight when Mickey meets Minnie. Shortly after they meet, they immediately go and spend the day together. Their first stop is at a vaudeville show, where they watch a tragedy slideshow story called "Father, Dear Father". The slideshow was so sad that Minnie starts to cry, but Mickey tries to calm her down by saying that its just a show. After "Father, Dear Father" ends, two comedians named Fred and Ward arrive to entertain the crowd. After the vaudeville show, Mickey and Minnie ride in a Brass Era car on the road of the countryside, where they run into some familiar people along the way, such as Goofy, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Huey, Dewey and Louie.

Things go smoothly for Mickey and Minnie, until they go down a hill with a cow in front of them. Unable to stop the car, they eventually crash into the cow. The car was wrecked, but fortunately, noone was hurt. Relieved that noone was hurt, Mickey and Minnie begin laughing. Just before they could kiss, the cow pops up in between them and they accidently kiss the cow instead. Realizing what they just done, they continue to laugh.

• The two comedians Fred and Ward are animated cariactures of Disney animators Fred Moore and Ward Kimball.
• In the theater, there's an advertisement for "Walter D.'s Hats". Walter D. stands for Walt Disney.
• This is the only classic Mickey Mouse short in which Daisy, Huey, Dewey, and Louie appear.
• The "Father, Dear Father" sequence was edited out of the short when it aired on Toon Disney.
