"The Machine in the Ghost" is the first prequel short of the Disney XD animated series, Star Wars Rebels. It premiered on August 11, 2014.
Plot
In the aftermath of a raid on an Imperial supply convoy, the Ghost and its crew are pursued by a group of four TIE Fighters and a dogfight occurs between the Ghost and the fighters, with the TIE fighters initially having the upper-hand.
Taking heavy fire, Kanan mans the turrent and begins returning the TIE fighter’s attacks while Hera mans the helm. Kanan only manages to take out one and the fighters while the remaining three succeed in taking out the shields.
Soon Hera and Kanan lose internal communication with one another. Despite working on getting the shields back online, Hera orders Chopper to repair communication systems so she can coordinate their attack and tell Kanan to hit something. Chopper leaves the cockpit and tells Kanan he is working on the communication system, but Kanan is not into speaking with Hera right now and orders Chopper to continue repairing the shields and tell Hera to fly better.
Chopper returns to the cockpit and tells Hera what Kanan told him, causing her to take the fight into her own hands. She maneuvers the Ghost behind the TIE fighters and destroys two of them leaving only one remaining. Hera again tells Chopper to talk to Kanan again, this time telling him to handle the last fighter. However Chopper has had enough with their contradicting orders and makes is way to the rear turrent where he successfully destroys the last fighter.
With the battle over, Chopper returns to the cockpit where he overhears Hera and Kanan jokingly taking credit for the outcome of the battle. Chopper gets annoyed as he gets no credit for taking out the last fighter but they soon admit they were only kidding and congratulate him on a job well done. Then they order him to get to work on fixing the shields and communication as they jump into hyperspace.
