"The Hoverbike Diaries" is the second segment of the seventeenth episode of Miles from Tomorrowland. It premiered on July 17, 2015, alongside "Lunar New Year".

Plot[]

In the bio-garden, Miles is playing zero-g tag with Captain Joe and M.E.R.C. Joe tells them that the secret to the sport is stealth. Miles and M.E.R.C. follow Joe to a place when Loretta tags all three of them. Miles assumes that the other secret is never play against his sister. Loretta tells Stella to turn on the gravity, and Joe says that she has some nice moves. Loretta reveals that she and Phoebe will go to Naxos camp today to learn even more moves. Joe wants to go, but he has other plans: Callisto Crew time. Miles tells M.E.R.C. that this is the term Joe and Leo refer to when they go on their road trips. Joe says that the road trips are rides on the hoverbike, which Miles thinks is amazing. Everyone then heads to the hangar when called by Phoebe.

Miles questions Joe if he does have room for one more member in his Callisto Crew. Miles also says that he will go to Naxos camp to cheer for Loretta and Phoebe, but Joe says that Miles can not be part of the Callisto Crew if he does not have a hoverbike, and he does not. However, when they get to the hangar, Joe claims he was wrong and Miles does have a hoverbike. Miles feels happy about it, as he has only ridden hoverbike simulators before. Leo reveals that Joe and himself started riding when they were Miles' age, and the same goes for Loretta; when she got her hoverbike, she went to Alarbus and went through the jungle, which she calls basically spacetastic. Phoebe says that the same will go for Naxos camp, and she and Loretta perform one of their moves before leaving. Joe and Leo inform Miles about three very important key steps if he wants to be part of the Callisto Crew: ride responsibly, help out, and think ahead. Miles thinks that he can do hard work, and then lets go of the bike before he, Leo, Joe, and M.E.R.C. head into the Star Jetter.

They then arrive at Planet Fraylak, where Leo and Joe say that they will be riding to Graawk Raawk, a rock with the shape of a Graawk. Once the ship lands, Miles has difficulty loading some of the packages, and M.E.R.C. decides to test a hoverbike, which zooms out of the ship. Leo suggests Miles checks the gear checklist, which is an important part of thinking ahead. After that, the Graawks appear. Miles and M.E.R.C. are delighted to see them, while informing them that they are here to see Graawk Raawk. As Miles rides M.E.R.C. to tell the Graawks all the fun they will have, Leo and Joe call him, and Miles packs everything in the hoverbikes while accidentally dropping the Quantumatic, which he does not notice. As Miles activates the hoverbike, it goes backwards, and Miles assumes that a real hoverbike is different from a simulator. Joe and Leo inform him to follow their lead.

They then ride their hoverbikes through the planet while dodging the obstacles and having a great time. Joe and Leo decide to do a trick, and Miles does the same, but has difficulty maintaining control. As he starts riding on a loop-de-loop, M.E.R.C. catches him and places him on the ground, and Miles catches up with Joe and Leo. Miles then decides to lead them on the next stretch, and does a good job. As Joe scans the route and Leo sets up the charging station on a tower, Miles and M.E.R.C. decide to buff the hoverbikes, an important part of helping out, as dust can mess up the gears and stop a bike cold. The Graawks appear and try to warn Miles and M.E.R.C. of an incoming thunderstorm, but they ignore him as they finish dusting the hoverbikes. Miles, M.E.R.C., Joe, and Leo then finish their path to Graawk Rawwk, and are amazed by the structure. As they decide to have a snack, the baby Graawk is informing them of something. Joe finds out that it is a thunderstorm heading their way quickly. As everyone heads to the hoverbikes, they get struck by lightning, and they take cover in a small cave with M.E.R.C. activating his wing shields. The thunderstorm passes by quickly, and Joe checks on the hoverbikes.

Their internal electronics were fused by the lightning. Leo decides to fix them with his Quantumatic. However, Miles and M.E.R.C. do not see it, and Miles thinks he left it behind. Joe sees another storm coming, which is way bigger than the last one. Miles believes that it is his fault their ride was ruined. He then realizes that the Graawks were trying to tell them about the storm before, but did not get it. As a baby Graawk picks up a hoverbike, this gives Miles an idea: to ride the Graawks back to the Star Jetter. They all enjoy the ride, with Leo saying that seeing Graawk Rawwk from a Graawk really rocks. Miles then finds the Quantumatic he left behind, and everyone thanks the Graawks for their help before leaving the planet with the Star Jetter just as the thunderstorm approaches.

Miles believes that he messed the ride up, and does not have what it takes to be part of the Callisto Crew. Leo informs him that every road has a few bumps in it, and what matters is getting back up and riding on, even if it is on a Graawk. He also thinks that Miles discovered crew rule #4: it is important to make friends along the way. Joe still does not think that Miles can be part of the Callisto Crew because he does not have a crew jacket. However, he was wrong because he has a jacket, which Miles thinks is basically spacetastic. Miles tries it on, and it fits perfectly.
