Tex Ritter 1964

Woodward Maurice Ritter (January 12, 1905 - January 2, 1974), better known as Tex Ritter, was an American country music singer and movie actor who was popular from the mid-1930s into the 1960s.

For Disney, he voiced Big Al in the Country Bear Jamboree attraction.

He is the father of late actor John Ritter and also the grandfather of Jason Ritter.


  • The song that Big Al sings, "Blood on the Saddle," was originally written and performed by Ritter.
  • Liver Lips' song, "My Woman Ain't Pretty (But She Don't Swear None)," was also originally written and sung by Ritter.
