[edit] Main Page Redesign

I'm really digging the new MP redesign, but is there a way to "randomize" the poster so every time you go to the MP there is a new one? - Route 55

Initiative, finally someone decides to take it with the fixing of this wiki. --FigmentJedi 20:21, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Pretty! --Darsha

Idea: why not a poster of the week? Every week, a new poster. - Route 55

Posters are great, but Land Before Time shouldn't be up there. It's not a Disney film. -Darsha

Help! I need to have the Current Events page fixed as I tried to format to add "Other Disney Properties" (Broadway musicals, ice shows, etc.) but I must have gone wrong somewhere! Mouseinphilly 5:55 PM US EDT Jul 26 2007

[edit] Content

For the sake of getting some more stuff on the wiki (You could of chose a better name in my opinion like the Wonderful Wiki of Disney or something) I'm going to get some stuff from Wikipedia's articles including some of the stuff I wrote (Jungle Cruise, JII and ToN)--FigmentJedi 21:13, 14 May 2005 (UTC)

We really need to get this place fixed. A year later and there isn't even 200 articles on such a vast subject. And the recent articles are rather poorly done. We honestly need more people flocking to this place to help make it better. --FigmentJedi 03:49, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

If I may give a suggestion: change the front page! Create links to root categories (like movies, parks etc. etc.). The current main page does not link to any content pages and is somewhat of a dead end! --GrandiJoos 07:47, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
Evan hasn't been seen in a while, that might be why. --RCT Fan 09:29, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
I've unprotected the page so you can make these changes. Angela (talk) 14:28, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
I've created the links but there is little to no structure in this wiki. You need to solve this first so the articles can be found easier. --GrandiJoos 11:12, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
For another name, what about 'Mickipedia'? --LFarookhi 00:36, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

How does one go about getting some attention drawn here? Wikipedia I know. Wikia I'm learning.  :) I've moved what few Disney- and Disneyland-related works I did at Wikipedia and hoped that we'd have more by now from some real Disney fans. We've been getting a disproportionate amount of edits on exceptionally minor Disney Channel movies and actors...and as of today, we still don't have an article on Peter Pan, for instance. We persist. - DismayingObservation 16:23, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

I have the same problem at my wiki (will not spam it here :P) but I think you just have to continue writing articles, starting with the ones you think will be the most interesting or popular. You also might, as I've said above, bring more structure to the articles and categories. When you create an inviting front/main page that will guide the visitors to the information they need they will be more likely to register and contribute. Just my 2 cents... --GrandiJoos 11:12, 19 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the comments and the advice. I absolutely agree. We haven't had (a) active users or (b) active admins. The two other regular users are supporting my bid to become one and I'm supporting them for the same. That'll be a big help as the articles strat rolling in...followed by the inevitable vandalism. Hope to see you 'round here more often. - DismayingObservation 17:27, 19 August 2006 (UTC)

There is a page at Wikia:Promotion that you might find useful, it lists some of the ways you can attract people to a wiki. The main gist of it is: talk to people. You need to get the word out to interested people that this wiki exists and that they can have a great time fixing it up. Of course, you have to be careful not to spam... that will just put people off and get you a bad reputation. But talking to people about your project in a careful, appropriate and relevant way should bring people to the wiki. Most will just have a quick look round, but some will stay... and the community will grow! -- sannse (talk) 19:54, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Boards

I was wondering if you guys would like me to set up discussion boards for this wiki. -Route 55

We can have wiki-based forums, like the ones on the central Wikia, if you prefer. Angela talk 11:19, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
It's not showing up. - Route 55
It's now at Forum:Index. Angela talk 15:46, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] New Name

I thing the site is great! I propose we change the name to Mickypedia. It better fits the wiki names, I think. supergeeky1 Disneyland 10:54, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

  • Never mind, I see someone has suggested it at the top! supergeeky1 Disneyland 13:41, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
    • But if you still want to, I think it would spruce the wiki up a little! supergeeky1 Disneyland 13:55, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
      • Please visit the watercooler on the DisneyWiki forum to vote on this topic. --Evan 07:36, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Other Templates

There are two unused templates that seem to have been intended for the main page: Template:Featuredarticle and Template:Mainpage-friends. The Featured Article box should perhaps wait until we've got a few more good big articles, but I think the Friends box should be on the Main Page somewhere. Unfortunately I can't seem to add it on one side of the page, as part of the right hand 'column'. LFarookhi 11:20, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

That Featured Article one is really old and I don't think has been used since early 2005. I think it may have become unneccessary since we have the Featured Poster (which in turn leads to an article). The other one (the Friends) is actually new and was on the Main Page last month before the Main Page was redesigned. - Route 55
Although we have the Featured Poster template, I think it would work to have the Featured Article box on the main page as well, simply because the Featured Poster can really only feature certain pages (and can't link to pages on people, characters and so forth). Perhaps not yet, but certainly when we get a few more sizeable articles. LFarookhi 22:29, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] The problem's back

So, the featured poster is again "The Land Before Time". I don't have any posters to change it too, but TLBT needs to go. I wish people would stop adding non-Disney content. I just have to hope that they're unaware that TLBT is not Disney.--DarshaAssant 22:48, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

I've changed it to the Oliver and Company poster. I've also added a 'did you know...' section; it would be great if we could get at least five trivia points in that section.--LFarookhi 12:13, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Theme park pages reform

I think that we should reform and created page on Theme parks. The only theme park articles that are good are Disneyland and Star Tours. I am going to start on this. Bernstein2291 01:05, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

I'm an East Coast Disney Fan, so I have some good info about Walt Disney World, but I'm new to wikia. Can anyone point me towards way to add/edit categories and add pages? I would love to help. Thanks. the entire walt disney company has been canceled and shut down pernmently forever and ever ,and good.

[edit] Disney Channel wiki

Hello, I am pirakafreak24, and I am the creator of Disney Channel wiki. If anyone would like to create an article about Disney Channel or anything like it, that would be great. We even have a spot opening for The Jonas Brothers. To create an article, search Jonas Brothers or whatever you want, and when it says there is no article, click xreate article. That would be great if you could help. Thanks. Pirakafreak24 05:42, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
