Steven John "Steve" Carell  (born August 16, 1962) is an American actor, comedian, producer, writer, and director who is best known for his role as Micheal Scott on the American version of The Office on NBC from 2005 to 2011 and its finale. He has also voiced characters in animated films, such as Hammy the squirrel in DreamWorks' Over the Hedge, Ned McDodd, the Mayor of Whoville in Horton Hears a Who!, and Felonius Gru, the main protagonist of the Despicable Me film series.

For Disney, he portrayed Ben Cooper in the 2014 fantasy comedy film Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. He also voiced Mr. Delancey in the animated series Fillmore!, and played Dan Burns in the 2007 Touchstone Pictures film Dan in Real Life.
