Squaw is a big, fat old Indian woman who appears in Peter Pan. She carries a sling with a papoose behind her back. She was voiced by Verna Felton and was animated by Frank Thomas.
Personality
Squaw is very bossy and is immediate to tell other's what they should do.
Role in the film
Squaw plays a minor role in the film, only appearing during the segment of the film where the tribe is celebrating Peter Pan's rescue of Tiger Lily. She sees Wendy dancing with the Lost Boys, and promptly scolds Wendy. She tells Wendy that squaws do not dance, and that she must gather firewood instead. Wendy initially obeys and gets several logs for the fire, but she drops the firewood after seeing Tiger Lily flirt with Peter. Squaw once again orders Wendy to get the firewood (presumably to pick up the logs she dropped), but after Wendy hears this, she refuses and leaves the camp, saying that she wants to go back home.
She does not appear in Return to Never Land.
Trivia
- Squaw is similar to The Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland, except she is not villainous. They were also both voiced by Verna Felton.
- When Squaw was being drawn out, she was suggested to be Tiger Lily's mother. This idea was either scrapped or just not gone into detail.
