Shaun Mark "Sean" Bean (born April 171959) is an English stage and screen actor who is well known for his roles as Boromir in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Eddard Stark on the HBO fantasy series, Game of Thrones since 2011, fictional British colonel Richard Sharpe on the ITV television series Sharpe from 1993 to 2008, Alec Trevelyan in the James Bond film GoldenEye, Jason Locke in Essex Boys, Odysseus in Troy, Andy McNab in Bravo Two Zero and Zeus in Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief

He is also known for his role as Ian Howe in National Treasure. He also played Errol Partridge in the 2002 Miramax Films film Equilibrium and Captain Marcus Rich in the 2005 Touchstone Pictures film Flightplan.

Sean Bean is famous for mostly playing characters (mainly villains) that die in the movie or TV show. The number of characters he played that don't die are very few which made a campaign by fans and a website called Don't Kill Sean with the description: "Sean Bean dies in everything, which is a shame because he is awesome. This blog is dedicated to ending the untimely deaths of Sean's characters in television and film. Help us save Sean Bean!"
