"Sailor's Hornpipe" is a song sung by the dodo bird from the 1951 Disney animated feature film, Alice in Wonderland. When Shrunken Alice is floating in the Drink Me Bottle and enters Wonderland, she sees the dodo and watches him sing the song.
In the play adaptation, the song "Ocean of Tears" replaces it.
It's also heard in the Mickey Mouse cartoon Boat Builders.
Lyrics[]
Oh, a sailor's life is the life for me,
How I love to sail
O'er the bounding sea
And I never never ever
Do a thing about the weather
For the weather never ever
Does a thing for me
Oh, a sailor's life is the life for me,
How I love to sail
O'er the bounding sea
If you want to sail
A ship like mine
And be a sailor all the time
Then learn to do
The Sailor's Hornpipe
Just like me
And I love the wind a'blowin'
As we leave the quay,
'Till we round the jetty and
We let the sail blow free
Cause I always had the notion
For a life upon the ocean
Dance the Hornpipe to the
motion of the rolling sea
