Ronald William "Ron" Howard is an American filmmaker and actor.

Howard's first collaboration with Disney was in 1969 in the Disneyland record Story and Song from The Haunted Mansion, playing a teenager that finds himself trapped inside the Haunted Mansion. His first film role at Disney came in 1970, when he played Virgil Tanner in the film The Wild Country.

Eventually becoming a director, Howard returned to Disney in 1984 and directed the film Splash (which launched the Touchstone Pictures label). He later directed the 1996 film Ransom and produced the 2004 film, The Alamo for Touchstone.

Howard also starred as Steve Bolander in the Lucasfilm picture American Graffiti and its sequel, More American Graffiti and directed the 1988 film, Willow for the studio. 

Howard also directed Solo, taking over from Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.
