Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon (born March 22, 1976), professionally known as Reese Witherspoon, is an American actress and film and television producer who is best known for her roles as Elle Woods in Legally Blonde, as June Carter in Walk the Line which earned her an Academy Award for Best Actress, as Cheryl Strayed in Wild in which she received an Academy Award nomination, and as Madeline Martha Mackenzie in HBO's Big Little Lies, which she also produced.

For Disney, she played Nonnie Parker in the 1993 film A Far Off Place, and Melanie Smooter in the 2002 Touchstone Pictures film Sweet Home Alabama. Witherspoon was also celebrity guest on ABC's The Muppets episode "Walk the Swine". She will portray Mrs. Whatsit in A Wrinkle in Time. She will star in and produce the upcoming film Tink.
