Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon is an American actress, producer, and entrepreneur, who is best known for her roles as Elle Woods in the 2001 comedy film Legally Blonde and its 2003 sequel, June Carter in the 2005 drama film Walk the Line (which earned her an Academy Award for Best Actress), Cheryl Strayed in the 2014 adventure drama film Wild (in which she received an Academy Award nomination in the same category), and Madeline Mackenzie in the HBO drama series Big Little Lies, which she also produced. She also voiced Susan Murphy/Ginormica in DreamWorks' 2009 animated film Monsters vs. Aliens and Rosita in Universal/Illumination's 2016 animated musical comedy film Sing and its 2021 sequel.
For Disney, she played Nonnie Parker in A Far Off Place, Melanie Smooter/Melanie Carmichael in the 2002 Touchstone Pictures film Sweet Home Alabama, and Mrs. Whatsit in A Wrinkle in Time. She also guest-starred in The Muppets episode "Walk the Swine". Additionally, she produced the 2019 Searchlight Pictures film Lucy in the Sky. She is set to create the upcoming Disney Junior show Tiny Trailblazers.[1]
