Puppy Love is Here to Stay is one of the songs written by the Sherman Brothers for A Symposium on Popular Songs.

In the short, the song is performed by Jackie Babylon and the Babylonians (with Jackie voiced by Billy Storm). It is mainly a parody of early '50s love songs as well as some of the songs that the Sherman Brothers themselves began writing for artists such as Annette Funicello.

Lyrics

Ooh-ooh-ooh...
(Puppy love...)
(Yay ya-yay yay)
Ooh-ooh-ooh...
(Puppy love...)
(Yay ya-yay yay)

When we met at the soda sho-o-op (Puppy love...)
My heart beat like it wouldn't sto-o-op (Puppy love...)
I heard a voice inside me say...
(Yip yip yip yip, bum bum bum,
Di-dip-da-dip-dip, da-dum da-dum-dum)
Puppy love is here to stay-yay-yay-yay.

You're just ten and I'm fourtee-ee-een,
But to me, you're a teenage quee-ee-een (Puppy love...)
And I will love you 'til we're old and gray.
(Sax riff)
Puppy love is here to stay-yay-yay-yay.

When you get to high school (Yay ya-yay yay)
I'll be there to guide you (Yay ya-yay yay)
I'll always wai-ai-ait
And gradua-ate
'Til I grad...
Uate...
Besi-ide you-hoo-hoo-hoo

It's wrong, all wrong, to be alo-o-one
Won't you share my ice cream co-ho-hone?
Irregardless what they say...
(guitar riff)
Puppy love is here to stay-yay-yay-yay.

(Sax solo, bass solo, drum fill)

(Puppy love is here to stay-yay-yay-yay.)

It's wrong, all wrong, to be alo-o-one (Puppy love...)
Won't you share my ice cream co-ho-hone? (Puppy love...)
Irregardless what they say...
(Yip yip yip yip, bum bum bum,
Di-dip-da-dip-dip, da-dum da-dum-dum)
Puppy love is here to stay-yay-yay-yay.

Oh oh oh (Puppy love...)
(Yay ya-yay yay)
Ooh-ooh-ooh...
(Puppy love...)
(Yay ya-yay yay)
Ooh-ooh-ooh...
(Puppy love...)
(Yay ya-yay yay)
Ooh-ooh-ooh...
(Puppy love...)
(Yay ya-yay yay)
