Phineas and Ferb is a Disney Channel and Disney XD animated television series that centers on two stepbrothers, one sister, a pet platypus, and their adventures during summer vacation. The series premiered worldwide on February 1, 2008. It is also the first DCOS to premiere simultaneously worldwide. The show’s official US premiere was marketed as Phineas and Ferb-uary, due to new episodes being shown on many of the days during the month of February. Many of the show’s voice actors also appear on other Disney Channel shows, such as Hannah Montana, and The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. Vincent Martella, the voice of Phineas, co-stars on the show Everybody Hates Chris as Greg on the CW Network. According to the theme song, since there’s 104 days of summer vacation, it was considered that the series will consist of 104 11-min episodes or 52 22-min episodes. On August 25, 2011, the show was picked up for a fourth season on Disney Channel, later known to be 39 episodes, a possible spin-off on Isabella and the Fireside Girls and a feature film for the series. The series also currently has a live show that is shown in over 80 different cities across the United States. Sometime in 2014, Phineas and Ferb will break the all-time record of half-hour episodes, set by Dumbo's Circus with 120. It is the longest running Disney Channel Original animated Series, beating Kim Possible’s 5 years and 3 months.
On February 15, 2014, it was announced that the show's fourth season is the show's last while it takes an indefinite hiatus.

Creators Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh met as layout artists on The Simpsons in the mid-1990s, where they sat across from each other. They bonded over a shared sense of humor and were eventually paired as a writing team on Rocko’s Modern Life for Nickelodeon where they learned more aspects of the animation production business.
It was during this time that the pair started to develop a show that would allow them to continue working together as writers. At the Wild Thyme restaurant in South Pasadena, California, where they have butcher paper over the tables and crayons for you to draw with, Povenmire was sharing a meal with his wife when he drew the first sketch of a triangle-headed kid. Povenmire called Marsh that evening and told him the news: he had Phineas.
Style
All the other characters grew from that simple triangle-headed kid. Phineas is a triangle, Ferb is a rectangle, and Candace and Isabella are half-circles. The goal was to create simple characters that kids could easily draw on their own. They also created characters that were easily recognizable in silhouette, which is an old animation standard that Matt Groening taught Povenmire while he was working on The Simpsons.
After the characters were set, they decided to work geometric shapes into the background to tie the whole thing together. Marsh describes this homage to legendary Looney Tunes animator/director Tex Avery. “There’s a little bit of Tex Avery in there — he had that very graphic style (in his later cartoons). A lot of what I see [in the series] now is borrowed from Tex.” The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show provided additional inspiration in its format, where several different stories would be resolved together at the end of the episode.
The color palette was originally a matter of discussion. Povenmire and Marsh wanted bright candy-colored characters with natural colors for the backgrounds. Marsh emphasized the need “for all of the stuff that they do to work, their world needs to be grounded in reality.” Disney wanted a more stylized palette. Povenmire recalled, “I actually had discussions with Disney about this because they wanted to come up with a cool color scheme. I just wanted it to feel like summer.” The creators won out in the end.
The Family Guy Connection
Povenmire and Marsh were no longer working together. Marsh had moved to London to work on an assortment of films and series including Postman Pat and Bounty Hamster. Povenmire had started animating and directing Family Guy episodes, but continued to shop the show around to Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, and Fox Kids.
Studios were worried about the complexity of the plots for the time allowed. At Fox, there were a few meetings, but negotiations fizzled out. Nickelodeon kept sending it up higher and higher in the production personnel ranks, but it was eventually deemed too difficult to pull off. Their stubbornness and persistence paid off when Povenmire finally got a meeting with Disney. According to Povenmire, “Disney was the first to say, ‘Let’s see if you can do it in 11 minutes.’ We did it in the pilot and they said, 'Let's see if you can do it for 26 episodes.’”
Disney Channel’s Senior VP of Original Series Adam Bonnet was a fan of Family Guy and wasn’t scared off by Povenmire’s work on the series. In fact, it was because of his connections to the prime time Fox animated sitcom known for its gross-out gags and raunchy humor that Bonnet wanted to see whatever Povenmire was working on. Povenmire recalls about Bonnet, “He called me for a meeting when I was working on a different pilot for them just to tell me how much he liked Family Guy. When I came back to pitch my own show, I think he was more open to it.”
Povenmire brought “some of that prime time animation timing without any of the raunch” to Phineas and Ferb. In fact, many of the blank stares and sight gags have a prime time and Tex Avery charm to them. “People think Family Guy is a success because of how raunchy the gags are. I don’t think it would have been a success at all if the timing wasn’t absolutely crystal pitch perfect -- if there wasn’t just the right amount of pause before or after the line. Comedy is all about timing and I think that’s what people are responding to.”
Original Story Pitch
Unlike non-animated series, they didn’t show them a script, they pitched a storyboard. A storyboard is a scene-by-scene visual breakdown of how the episode would look. When it came time to present it to the executives overseas, Povenmire edited the storyboards together into a film, adding music, sound effects and providing the voices for all the characters. This animatic can be found on “The Fast and the Phineas (DVD).” The original story pitch eventually became the episode “Rollercoaster.”
Production
Writing Style
The show uses four major writers to devise story ideas according to “strict guidelines”, such as that the boys’ schemes never appear to be “magical.” Stories are reviewed at weekly sessions on a Monday, then simultaneously scripted and storyboarded. A very rough design is built before the storyboard, featuring little more than suggested scenes and dialogue, is drafted; the writers then gather for a “play-by-play” walkthrough of the storyboard in front of the whole crew, whose reactions to the jokes are assessed before rewrites are made. The writers as well include running gags in every episode, which are generally lines spoken by characters. Almost every episode is set into two eleven-minute segments.
Animation

Rough Draft Studios in South Korea, Wang Film Productions in Taiwan, and Synergy Animation and Hong Ying Animation in Shanghai animate the series in 2D Animation using the software packages Toon Boom. Povenmire undertakes the bulk of production direction, along with Marsh, Jay Lender, Sue Perrotto, Zac Moncrief and Robert Hughes. The series adopts artistic features from animator Tex Avery, such as geometric shapes integrated into characters, objects, and backgrounds. Dan Povenmire said of this inclusion, “There’s a little bit of Tex Avery in there-he had that very graphic style (in his later cartoons).” Triangles are featured as an Easter egg in the background of every episode, sometimes in trees or buildings.

Bright colors are also a prominent element of the animation. Marsh elaborates, “The idea at the end of the day was candy. One of the things that I think works so well is that the characters are so bright and candy-colored and our backgrounds are a much more realistic depiction of the world: the soft green of the grass, the natural woods for the fence. In order for all of the stuff that they do to work, their world needs to be grounded in reality.” The designers sought to keep their characters visually simple, so that kids “would easily be able to draw [them] themselves.” Characters were also crafted to be recognizable from a distance, a technique the creators say is based on Matt Groening’s goal of making characters recognizable by silhouette.

The plots grew from Povenmire's childhood in Mobile, Alabama. His mother was always encouraging them to do creative things rather than watch television. One of his activities was making home movies. Povenmire says, "My mom let me drape black material all the way across one end of our living room to use as a space field. I would hang little models of spaceships for these little movies I made with a Super 8 camera."
Phineas and Ferb Scenario
Phineas Flynn (Vincent Martella) and Ferb Fletcher (Thomas Sangster) are stepbrothers who live with their older sister Candace Flynn (Ashley Tisdale) and their parents Linda Flynn (Caroline Rhea) and Lawrence Fletcher (Richard O'Brien) in the town of Danville. The brothers find themselves dissatisfied just spending their summer vacation outside of school, so, they pull off unbelievable and often outlandish stunts (i.e. finding a mummy, getting a band back together, racing cars, constructing a giant roller coaster, just to name some), in order to make summer more exciting. Their sister, Candace, is aware of their unusual activities and tries to play spoil-sport (busting) by telling their mom, so that the adventures of Phineas and Ferb could be put to an end. Candace's actions emerge mostly out of jealousy because she would not be able to get away with the same acts, since she gets "busted" for things she wasn't even intending to do, like throwing a party. Agent P Sub-Plot
Phineas and Ferb's pet, Perry the Platypus (Dee Bradley Baker), is actually a secret agent named "Agent P." Normally, Perry's first appearance in a story is after someone (usually Phineas) notices his absence and asks "Hey, where's Perry?" After the question is asked, the scene usually changes right to Perry entering secret chutes or entrances that bring him to some underground headquarters where he receives instructions, via a monitor, from his boss Major Monogram (Jeff "Swampy" Marsh) (However, in some cases, Perry is simply shown in the base receiving a briefing [e.g."Undercover Carl"). Major Monogram thеn assigns Perry some mission that generally involves Heinz Doofenshmirtz (Dan Povenmire), and his nefarious plans to wreak havoc on the Tri-State Area (though this is not always the case).
A majority of the Perry subplot involves him battling Dr. Doofenshmirtz in knowingly hackneyed fashion (such as Doofenshmirtz's long monologues about his plans to Perry), this sub-plot also includes, sometimes, the sarcasms of Vanessa Doofenshmirtz (Olivia Olson); Doofenshmirtz's daughter, and Norm (John Viener); Doofenshmirtz's self-aware robot. Inevitably, these battles are brought very near where Phineas and Ferb are doing whatever plan they had for the day, and generally aid in the removal of all evidence related to what they were doing before Candace can show her mother what Phineas and Ferb have been up to. Candace Sub-Plot
Occasionally, there are subplots relating to Candace during the stories. They generally involve either Candace chatting, hanging out with her friend Stacy (Kelly Hu), or attempting to get the attention of her crush, Jeremy (Mitchel Musso). These subplots commonly weave in with Candace's many attempts to bust Phineas and Ferb.
Reception
The show has received generally very positive reviews. The New York Times commented favorably, describing the show as "Family Guy with an espionage subplot and a big dose of magical realism". It considered the pop-culture references ubiquitous "but [placed] with such skill that it seems smart, not cheap." Whitney Matheson wrote in her USA Today blog "Pop Candy" that the series was an achievement in children's programming. Matheson applauded the writing and called it "an animated version of Parker Lewis Can't Lose." Emily Ashby of Common Sense Media praised the show's humor and plot, giving it three out of five stars. The Seattle Times wrote that the story of the show was "valiant" and that the main characters of Phineas and Ferb were "young heroes".
Variety noted the show's appeal to all ages with its "sense of wit and irreverence." Similar reviews have emphasized the series' popularity with adults; Elastic Pops Rebecca Wright wrote, in a review for the volume one DVD, "As an adult, I really enjoyed watching this Phineas and Ferb DVD, and I think it is one that the whole family can enjoy." Wright also called the series' "irreverent style" reminiscent of The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle. Wired's Matt Blum has stated in reviews on the series that he "can stand to watch just about anything with (his) kids, but he actually looks forward to watching Phineas and Ferb with them." Notable adult celebrities who have openly considered themselves fans of the series include Bob Eubanks, Anthony LaPaglia, Ben Stiller, Chaka Khan, Jeff Sullivan and Jake Gyllenhaal.
Among the negative reviews is one that charges the series with a lack of originality. Maxie Zeus of Toon Zone argued that the show is "derivative, but obviously so, and shorn of even the best features of what has been stolen." Zeus took issue with the writing, feeling that certain jokes and conventions were "ripped-off" from other shows. Kevin McDonough of Sun Coast Today criticized the show for its plot complexity, constant action, and "characters [that] can do just about anything." McDonough stated that "it's never clear whether P&F are intended to entertain children or are merely a reflection of grown-up animators engaged in a juvenile lark." Marylin Moss of The Hollywood Reporter described Phineas and Ferb as "Pretty mindless but kids of all ages might find a humorous moment in it." Moss called the plot lines redundant but did praise the music styles and guest stars. The series won a "Cynopsis Kids Animation" in June 2012 for the movie.
Ratings
The first episode, "Rollercoaster", garnered a total of 10.8 million viewers when aired as a preview on August 17, 2007, holding onto more than half the record-setting audience of its lead-in, High School Musical 2. When Phineas and Ferb officially debuted in February the next year, it proved cable's number one watched animated series premiere by "tweens." Throughout the first quarter that followed, it peaked as the top-rated animated series for ages 6–10 and 9–14, also becoming number three animated series for all of cable television for viewers age 6–10. By the time the commissioning of the second season was announced in May 2008, the series had become a top-rated program in the 6–11 and 9–14 age groups.
Disney Channel's airing of "Phineas and Ferb Get Busted" was watched by 3.7 million viewers. The episodes "Perry Lays an Egg" and "Gaming the System" on Disney Channel achieved the most views by ages 6–11 and 9–14 of any channel in that night's time slot. This achievement propelled the series to the number one animated telecast that week for the target demographics. On June 7, 2009, Disney announced that the show had become the number one primetime animated television show for the demographics 6-10 and 9-14.
The premiere of "Phineas and Ferb's Christmas Vacation" garnered 2.62 million viewers during its debut on Disney XD, the most watched telecast in the channel's history (including Toon Disney) and the number three program of the night in all demographics. It received 5.2 million viewers for its debut on Disney Channel. It was the highest rated episode of the series to date and 5th highest for the week.
The premiere of "Phineas and Ferb Summer Belongs to You!" garnered 3.862 million viewers, was watched by 22% of kids 2–11, 13% of teens, 5% of households, and 3% of adults 18–49, also being the #1 program on that night and it was 25th for the week in viewership. On Disney XD, the episode ranked in the channel's top 3 telecasts of the year in viewers with 1.32 million, and Boys 6–11 with 365,000, with a 2.9 rating. The hour-long telecast on August 2, 2010 is currently the Emmy-winning animated series' No. 2 telecast of all time on Disney XD in Total Viewers, in kids 6–14 with 677,000 and a 1.9 rating, Boys 6–14 with 435,000 and a 2.3 rating, and kids 6–11 with 542,000 and a 2.2 rating, Boys 6–11 and Boys 9–14 235,000 with a 1.9 rating, behind only December 2009's "Phineas and Ferb Christmas Vacation!"
On September 9, 2011, the episode "My Fair Goalie" had 4.65 million viewers watch it, the most so far for a regular episode. Eleven other episodes have also hit the 4-million mark, 5 times in 2011 alone.
Marketing and Merchandise
Disney has licensed a number of products from the show, including plush toys of characters Perry, Ferb, Phineas, and Candace. Disney released several T-shirts for the show and launched a "Make your own T-shirt" program on its Disney website. Authors have novelized several episodes. Two season one DVDs, entitled The Fast and the Phineas and The Daze of Summer, have been released; the discs include episodes never broadcast in America. A third DVD was released on October 5, 2010, called "A Very Perry Christmas". A fourth one, called "The Perry Files", will be released June 5, 2012. Some reviewers were displeased that the discs covered selected episodes rather than providing box sets of whole series, but noted that Disney does not generally release full-season DVD sets.
On February 3, 2009, Disney licensed a Nintendo DS game, titled like the show, Phineas and Ferb. The game's story follows the title characters as they try to build a roller coaster to stop boredom over the summer (in reference to the show's pilot episode). The player controls Phineas, Ferb, and occasionally Agent P (Perry the Platypus). Phineas scavenges for spare parts for the rollercoaster while Ferb fixes various objects around town, gaining access to new areas as a result. Ferb can also construct new parts of the rollercoaster and its vehicle-themed carts. Each activity features a short mini-game. The game was well received and garners a 76.67% on GameRankings. A sequel entitled Phineas and Ferb Ride Again, was released on September 14, 2010. Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh also announced that there is a Phineas and Ferb Wii game in development. It was later confirmed that this game would be a video game adaptation of the TV movie, also available for Nintendo DS and PlayStation 3, which was released August 2, 2011.
Homages
The United Kingdom Disney Channel has aired a series entitled Oscar and Michael's Phineas and Ferb Fan Club Show in homage to the animated series. The show features two boys who attempt to be like Phineas and Ferb by taking part in adventures to alleviate boredom. The series aims at educating kids and promoting activity and creativity. It entered its second season on April 10, 2009.
Phineas and Ferb also has been briefly referenced in a few literary works in recent years. Love through the Eyes of an Idiot: A True Story of Finding the Secret of Love and Romance uses an analysis that states that a woman the author met was the "Phineas to [his] Ferb." Lost and Found: How Churches Are Connecting to Young Adults uses the titular characters of the show as an example of television characters who have an impact to the lives of children and the family they live with.
Songs
Almost every episode has had at least one musical performance (except for Lights, Candace, Action!, I Was a Middle Aged Robot, Not Phineas and Ferb, and The Lizard Whisperer). Rollercoaster: The Musical! and Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension currently tie for the record of most songs at 9 songs each. Povenmire recalls, "When we were writing Rocko, we always had one of two things, sometimes both: usually a song or a musical number, plus a big action/chase scene. Phineas and Ferb gave us a chance to write a song for every single episode, starting with the third episode, "Flop Starz." We played it and Perry's secret agent theme for the Disney executives. We were a little trepidatious because Disney has a big history of music —-- what if they hate it? The reaction was, "These are great -- can you write a song for every episode?"Nearly every epsiode has a song so that they wont use it over and over for a different season
The music on Phineas and Ferb goes from the whimsical to heavy metal. Composer Danny Jacob, along with Povenmire, Marsh and story editor Martin Olson strive to include all genres of music because they feel this variety enriches the animation experience and exposes kids to music they wouldn't otherwise have been aware of. Early in the show's production, Disney questioned this policy, but as Povenmire explains, "It's similar to when we realized that Bugs Bunny was using classical music. When I heard 'The Barber of Seville' for the first time after watching Bugs Bunny, I had a way of relating to it that made me think of it differently than if I had just heard it on the radio. You have a familiarity to it. Now, when kids hear a Frank Sinatra like a jazz tune, or a Busby Berkeley kind of tune, they'll have a frame of reference for it."They use good music so it can mix in and flow with the movie this has been on for a while now that they have used phineas and ferb movie to feature it to show that if u use jazz tunes and other stuff it will sound good with other things.not only with the same movie
Running Gags
The show relies heavily on running gags. These gags are seen in most episodes, though sometimes they are humorously modified:
Phineas and Ferb attempt to build something every day in order to avoid a boring summer. However, in "The Best Lazy Day Ever" and "Vanessassary Roughness," they don't do anything.
People say "You can't just expect *insert item here* to just fall out of the sky," and then they do. (e.g. "You can't expect the perfect gift to just fall out of the sky)
Candace tries to foil the boys' plans by yelling "Mom, Phineas and Ferb are...", but by the time their mom comes, Phineas and Ferb's projects are either gone or turned into something else. The only times Candace has succeeded in "busting" her brothers occur in Perry's dream ("Phineas and Ferb Get Busted!"), 20 years into the future ("Phineas and Ferb's Quantum Boogaloo") and in "She's the Mayor" but time gets reversed by Doofenshmirtz's invention.
Dr. Doofenshmirtz builds evil machines with names ending in -inator (e.g. "The Misbehavinator"), though in one or two episodes, Doofenshmirtz gives his weapon a name not ending in -inator, explaining to Agent P that he has worn out the -inator name too much. He also puts -inator with words that have already have -inator suffixes or closely sounding sufixes (e.g. Acceleratorinator or Space Laser-inator). He usually gives a short pause before the -inator in these cases. In one case, Doofenshmirtz makes an -inator that makes an ice age, proclaiming, "My Gloominator 3000!...-inator," maybe meaning that he doesn't always want to call them -inators but he does it because all his inventions in the past have been -inators.
Phineas and Ferb are asked (usually by Isabella) or ask someone else "What'cha doin'?". There have been a number of variations on it. (Ex. "What'cha eatin'?" Hail Doofania!, Chez Platypus and "What'cha watchin'?" (Out of Toon)
Phineas (in some episodes, other characters) asks "Hey, where's Perry?" when he notices Perry's disappearance.
Dr. Doofenshmirtz has plans to use his invention on the "Entire Tri-State Area."
Ferb often remains silent until the end of the episode, when he usually touts a humorous line. This has though as of mid-Season 2, been not been seen as often, as Ferb usually has two or more lines, or in the case of The Lizard Whisperer, his line was 46 seconds long.
Perry has a unique, secret entrance to his hideout in every episode (tree door, trick walls, magic hat...).
People ask Phineas if he is a little young to be doing what he is doing (e.g. "Aren't you a little young to be using an arc welder?"). His most common response is "Yes, yes I am", but in a few episodes (Flop Starz, Toy to the World) he disagreed. There have been numerous takes on this line by various characters. Also, Phineas and Ferb are not the only ones being asked this question. In the episode "Vanessassary Roughness" a twist is given to this gag when Ferb's mother asks him "aren't you a little bit to old to be playing in the ballpit?" and in "Isabella and the Temple of Sap", Isabella says "He does appreciate me", with Gretchen saying, "Yes, yes he does."
Dr. Doofenshmirtz doesn't recognize Agent P if he is not wearing his secret agent hat.
Phineas says "Oh, there you are, Perry" when Perry has finished his mission and become a normal pet again. An episode is named after this line.
Occasionally people think that what is being said is a metaphor but is real. ("She's the Mayor," "Brain Drain").
On episodes where Phineas and Ferb build tall objects, a bird is shown flying towards it and falls, one instance where a bird is not shown is in "Gi-Ants" where a fly flies into the miniature version of the "Antius Maximus".

In the series, produced in traditional 2D by Walt Disney Television Animation, Phineas Flynn and his stepbrother, Ferb Fletcher, set out to conquer boredom and make every day of their 104-day summer vacation count, even if it means building a backyard beach. Their older sister, Candace, makes it her mission to get the boys in trouble. Meanwhile the family's pet, Perry the Platypus, may seem like any other house pet, but he has a secret life as suave Agent P, deftly battling the evil Dr. Doofenshmirtz to save the Tri-State Area.

Characters only have 4 fingers.
The guitars that characters play have four strings and knobs, making them obviously bass guitars (the only exception is Danny).

The series' main characters live in a blended family, a premise the creators considered underused in children's programming and which reflected Marsh's own upbringing. Marsh considers explaining the family background "not important to the kids' lives. They are a great blended family and that's all we need to know." The choice of a platypus as the boys' pet was similarly inspired by media underuse, as well as to exploit its striking appearance. The platypus also gives them freedom to "make stuff up" since "no one knows very much about [them]."
Marsh called the characters "cool, edgy and clever without [...] being mean-spirited." According to Povenmire, their animation director, Rob Hughes, agreed: "in all the other shows every character is either stupid or a jerk, but there are no stupid characters or jerks in this one."
Major Characters
Phineas Flynn (Vincent Martella): One of the two titular characters, Linda Flynn's son, Candace's brother, Ferb Fletcher's stepbrother and Lawrence Fletcher's stepson. Phineas is an intelligent, creative boy inspired to make the summer as great as it can be by coming up with ideas for unusual, exciting, and sometimes impossible activities (such as building a rollercoaster in their backyard). His most important traits are oratory skills, creativity and optimism. He is very polite and is never selfish or rude to anyone. His stepbrother, Ferb, is his best friend and partner in their activities. He also gets along with his stepfather quite well, calling him "Dad". He loves his sister Candace, yet usually upsets her with his schemes. He has a normal relationship with his mom. He often wonders about the whereabouts of his pet platypus Perry. His catch phrases are, "Ferb, I know what we're gonna do today!" and "Has anybody seen Perry?" (or "Hey, where's Perry?") and "There you are Perry" when Perry returns home. A lot of people ask him if he is too young to be working on his current project to which he almost always responds, "Yes, yes I am".
Ferb Fletcher (Thomas Sangster): Ferb is a very intelligent boy who rarely speaks. He usually has at least one line in every episode. When he does speak he reveals his baritone voice and British accent. Ferb is Lawrence's son, Linda's stepson, and Candace and Phineas's stepbrother. He always helps Phineas with his nearly impossible plans. In the episode "I Scream, You Scream", he is shown to be distracted easily only by his infatuation with Vanessa Doofenshmirtz. He's good at playing the guitar, the keyboard, maracas, tambourine, bass, trumpet, bagpipes, harmonica and the drums.
Candace Flynn (Ashley Tisdale): Candace is a 15-year old teenage girl. She is always aware of all of the boys' plans. Usually she attempts to get the boys in trouble with their mom, but when she gets her mother to see what they are doing they always look perfectly innocent and normal. She has a love interest in Jeremy. She often uses her cell phone and acts much like a stereotypical teenager when not trying to stop her brothers' antics. She is allergic to wild parsnips, which make her face turn red and puffy. Also, it makes her voice deeper and it has her sing like a blues singer. She is also terribly afraid of heights. She has a teddy bear named "Mr. Miggins". It is revealed that she has a "Panic Room" for when she goes crazy. While she is constantly angry at her brothers, there are signs that underneath it all she loves them, and even sometimes joins them in their projects. Her catchphrases are, "You are so busted" and "Hey, Mom! You really need to see what Phineas and Ferb are doing!". Candace is good at singing and playing a number of instruments, all of which, begin with the letter "B". Her birthday is July 11. She had a tree house which Phineas and Ferb remodeled.
Perry the Platypus (Dee Bradley Baker): Perry is Phineas and Ferb's pet platypus, who, unbeknownst to his owners, lives a double life as a secret agent. He has a lair located under the Flynn-Fletcher household that File:Platypus.jpg

can be entered through several hidden passages throughout the house and backyard, such as Phineas and Ferb's tree, and the "Chimneyvator", (an elevator inside the chimney), or other places that lead to underground tube systems. His nemesis is the evil scientist Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz, whom he is daily sent to with the mission of foiling his plans, which he always successfully accomplishes. A running gag in the show is that his missions often end up covering evidence of Phineas and Ferb's activities inadvertently, thus Linda never finding out about the boys' schemes. In Phineas and Ferb Across the Second Dimension, it is revealed that Perry was adopted from an animal shelter run by the O.W.C.A. used for assigning agents to host families.
Linda Flynn (Caroline Rhea): Mother to Phineas and Candace, stepmother to Ferb Fletcher. She is married to Lawrence Flynn, but she seems not to use his last name as her cooking teacher called her "Miss Flynn", although in "Candace Loses Her Head", Isabella called her "Mrs. Fletcher". She is a regular American mother, although she plays in a free form jazz band with Isabella's and Jeremy's mothers, and was once a one hit wonder pop star under the name "Lindinna" in the '80s. She is generally busy, or trying to relax, while her daughter tries to get her to see that the boys are up to some crazy plan. Linda seems to think that Candace is crazy and needs professional help. Linda can play the keyboard, the triangle, and the guitar. Her favorite band is Love Handel, which thet went to on her anniversary with Lawrence Fletcher, which is June 15.
Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz (Dan Povenmire): Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz (voiced by Dan Povenmire) is a mad scientist who is the main antagonist of the series. He is the father to Vanessa Doofenshmirtz, a teenage girl who is Ferb's crush. He is the head of his own single-person company, Doofenshmirtz Evil, Inc. (with its own jingle, played everytime the building is shown). Depending on the episode, Dr. Doofenshmirtz's main goal is to either wreak havoc on, destroy, or rule the "Tri-State Area". In a flashback in the episode "What Do It Do?", teenage Linda (the mother of Phineas & Candace as well as the stepmother of Ferb) suggested he should use it as a starting point before trying to take over the world. Most of Doofenshmirtz's plans, involving various gadgets and inventions, have been thwarted by Perry the Platypus. His contraptions usually end with the suffix "-inator" (though in the case of "Mom's Birthday", he used a different suffix for his contraption in that episode). His first invention as a child was simply called "Inator", as seen in "Unfair Science Fair." Doofenshmirtz first appeared in the pilot episode of the series and since then has appeared in every episode to date except "Isabella and the Temple of Sap", as that episode focused on Pinky and Professor Poofenplotz. A routinely bumbling, incompetent, and forgetful mad scientist, Doofenshmirtz is the mastermind behind the B-Plot. Doofenshmirtz's voice is of Eastern European descent (most likely Czech, Polish, or Sorbian, as he was noted by Lawrence Fletcher as having a German accent, and in at least one episode he alludes to being Bohemian). Throughout the series, Doofenshmirtz's flashbacks (of which are often told after Perry has been captured) explore his mentally abusive and lonely childhood growing up in the fictional village Gimmelshtump, Druelselstein. Before becoming an evil scientist, Doofenshmirtz was a bratwurst vender until being put out of business by the hot dog industry. Doofenshmirtz usually monologues and displays acts of "cartoonish" physical violence towards his nemesis Perry, a skilled anthropomorphic platypus secret agent who disguises himself as the mindless pet of the series main characters. His catchphrase, mainly said when he is defeated by Perry, is "Curse you, Perry the Platypus!". In certain episodes, he often says different versions of his catchphrase (for example, in the episode "It's About Time!", he said his catchphrase to a different agent called Peter the Panda due to him being his new nemesis, saying "Curse you, Peter the Panda!"). Doofenshmirtz appears in several merchandise pieces based on the series, particularly the book series, and the video game. Doofenshmirtz admitted in the second part of "The Chronicles of Meap" that Perry is his best friend.
Isabella Garcia-Shapiro (Alyson Stoner): is the female protagonist of the show; she is one of Phineas and Ferb's best friends. Her catchphrase is "Whatcha doin'?" She can change her voice as Ferb can, usually higher, sometimes lower, and often assists the boys in their plans, enlisting the whole troop of girls sometimes in the process (often to obtain new patches or other credits related to the Fireside Girls). She is a big fan of the boys and their plots, particularly Phineas, whom she has a crush on and shows feelings for him at times. She leads the Fireside Girls troop 46231. Phineas apparently does not return the feelings and only views her as a friend. It is unclear whether or not he is aware of her crush and most likely is void of it. Isabella makes no efforts to get Phineas to notice her. Isabella is Mexican-American-Jewish, as her mother is Mexican-Jewish and in "Phineas and Ferb Christmas Vacation", she revealed that her family celebrates Hanukkah. Isabella doesn't usually dress like the other Fireside Girls, instead wearing a pink dress and white shirt, though she has been seen wearing their uniform in some episodes. When standing next to the other Fireside Girls with her sash, Isabella's clothes do resemble the Fireside Girl uniform, though pink. She always wears bows with her outfit, most commonly pink to match her dress though she has other colored bows to match whatever outfits she's wearing. This difference is used to make her stand out as the troop leader. However, in "The Beak", he returns that she was very brave. She is also a singer, as seen in songs such as "Go Phineas", "S'winter", "City of Love", and "The Yellow Sidewalk", as well as several others which have appeared throught the series. It is shown in "Phineas and Ferb's Quantum Boogaloo" that Isabella will marry Phineas or Ferb in the future. It can be inferred that it will most likely be Phineas due to her huge crush on him. She is also seen to have a pet chihuahua named Pinky who temporarily spazzes out as shown in "Journey to the Center of Candace". She has a mom named Vivian Garcia-Shapiro.
Major Monogram (Jeff "Swampy" Marsh) is the head of the O.W.C.A. (Organization Without a Cool Acronym) Department and Perry the Platypus's boss. His uniform prominently features the initials "MM", which is reminiscent of a similar character in the James Bond novels and films. Monogram sends Perry on missions to stop Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz's endless attempts at instigating a "Reign of terror" upon the Tri-State Area. Major Monogram usually appears on a giant screen giving Perry instructions for his next mission, but it is revealed that he never wanted to be a major. It is shown that he does not have real hair and instead wears wigs. His distinctive monobrow is ridiculed by Doofenschmirtz in "Summer Belongs to You." His intern's name is Carl Karl. Just like Doofenshmirtz, he also appeared in the pilot episode of the series and since then has appeared in every episode to date except "Isabella and the Temple of Sap", as that episode focused on Pinky and Professor Poofenplotz instead of Perry and Dr. Doofenshmirtz, and "The Flying Fishmonger" in which only his arm appears. Monogram's first name was revealed, and promptly mocked, as Francis, in the episode "Phineas and Ferb's Musical Cliptastic Countdown". He has a wife that could possibly be the head of Her Majesty's Secret Service, Inspector Anagram, since Monogram mentioned he had a wife and he has flirted with the Inspector.
Secondary Characters
Fireside Girls Troop 46231: They are the girl scout group who are guided by Isabella. They like music and never have been seen without a smile on their faces. They usually count on Phineas and Ferb to help get their badges. Their names from the creators are Gretchen, Milly, Holly, Ginger Hirano, Adyson Sweetwater, and Katie. Three more came in the 2nd season: An unnamed blonde, an unnamed brunette, and Melissa from the Lil' Sparks, the junior club of the Fireside Girls. A 11th Fireside Girl came in the season 3 episode "Tour de Ferb, that has brown hair, but like the ones from "Middle Aged Robot", she does not have a name yet.
Gretchen resembles a young Velma Dinkley from Scooby-Doo because she has glasses and short auburn hair. She is about the same age as Isabella Garcia-Shapiro and voiced by Ariel Winter. Gretchen is second in command in the troop and knows big words that the others don't know, thus earning her "Saying a word no one else knows in the room" patch in Isabella and the Temple of Sap. She is the smartest of the Fireside girls and keeps a cool head in dangerous situations (usually).
Holly is an African-American girl and is voiced by Cymphonique Miller in Seasons 1 to 3, then Diamond White took over for Season 4. She was the only Fireside Girl to appear in "Comet Kermillion".
Katie is the light-skinned blonde girl; voiced by Isabella Acres and helped in the Swamp Oil 500 race in "The Fast and The Phineas". She said, "Phineas, can I get you to sign some liability waivers?" in "Out to Launch" when Isabella said that she wanted Phineas to go out to a dance.
Milly is the girl with freckles and curly brown hair; voiced by Isabella Murad. She got Doof to buy cupcakes in Fireside Girl Jamboree. She appears to be the heaviest of the Fireside Girls.
Adyson Sweetwater is the girl who has straight brown hair, wears a sleeveless uniform, a red headband, and is voiced by Madison Pettis. She was sarcastic about the "Help Thy Neighbor" patch in "Isabella and the Temple of Sap". She once had the record for most patches in a day before Candace. She seems to be third in command because in Summer Belongs to You, after the gang left, she told everyone what to clean up and where to go. She also seems to be one of the stronger ones in the group since in Isabella and the Temple of Sap, while climbing a mountain Gretchen was reading a book and Adyson was pulling her up
Ginger Hirano is the dark-haired Asian girl in some resemblance to Stacy Hirano (later revealed to be sisters) and is voiced by Tiffany Espensen in seasons 1 to 3, then Michaela Zee for Season 4. She has a crush on Baljeet (which the other girls don't appreciate); as she put on a "Seeing a Cute Boy" badge in "Isabella and the Temple of Sap", after seeing Baljeet only to get it torn off by Milly and later, Katie. She got advice from Baljeet in "Bee Day" about waggling bess if they need to get back to the hive, which helped her troop as she sung Waggle Dance in the next episode.
Lawrence Fletcher (Richard O'Brien): is the father of Ferb, stepfather of Phineas and Candace. He has the last name Fletcher, though he was once called "Mr. Flynn" by Isabella in "Greece Lightning". Lawrence is an archaeologist from England. He is portrayed like a sitcom dad as being scatterbrained and unaware of what is going on. He keeps his treasured memories in a toolbox. He agrees to follow Phineas's instructions and even forces Candace to cooperate, as if he considers Phineas' and Ferb's skills normal. Additionally, he does not understand when the brothers are about to start a new scheme, often being distracted by something else. He has seen some of the boys inventions, in "It's A Mud, Mud, Mud, Mud World" he is in the monster truck with Candace. Its is seen that he knows about the boys project and think they are fine, believing that their mother approves. this happens again when he sees that the boys have literally turned the entire garage upside down but when he asks their mother to see if its alright with her she thought he meant they made a mess in the garage and just said they needed to clean it up after.
Jeremy Johnson (Mitchel Musso): Jeremy is the love interest of Candace. Whenever activities are going on in the Fletcher-Flynn house, he goes to visit just to enjoy the activity. In an interview with Mitchel Musso, he revealed that Jeremy returns Candace's feelings for him.
Carl Karl (Tyler Alexander Mann): The person who operates the camera for Perry's secret hideout. He is a bit forgetful and sometimes humiliates the Major, ending up with the usual screen gag. It is revealed that he is an intern to earn college credit.
Stacy Hirano (Kelly Hu): Candace's very enthusiastic best friend. She appears in many episodes, but is usually with Candace when something very exciting happens; in "Lawn Gnome Beach Party of Terror", she appeared telling Candace that she could be the most popular kid in the neighborhood for having a backyard beach and that Jeremy was there. Another major appearance is in "Ready for the Bettys", joining Candace on a tour bus with a band called "The Bettys". In "Tree to Get Ready", she fights against Phineas and Ferb's treehouse. In "Happy Birthday, Isabella", she found out about Perry's Agent life, but was not a Flynn-Fletcher, thus her memory wasn't ereased.
Buford Van Stomm (voiced by Bobby Gaylor) has a noticeable Mid-Atlantic accent. It is frequently mentioned that everybody is afraid of him, but he rarely hurts anyone on-screen. He is present in the series more often as a nicer boy than as a bully, and for this reason receives frequent invitations from Phineas and Ferb to join them and their friends Isabella and Baljeet (and later, Django and Irving). Buford owns a fish named Biff, named after his mother and has a soft spot for goldfish, as noted by Phineas in "Voyage To the Bottom of Buford" and "Let's take a Quiz". In "One Good Scare Ought To Do It!", it's revealed that he's afraid of Suzy Johnson (probably because of her criminally-insane nature towards Candace). It is also mentioned in "Jerk De Soleil" that Buford loves mud when his act involves him diving into a mud pit. When he cries, he claims he is "sweating through his eyes," but in the episode "Voyage To the Bottom of Buford", Isabella calls his bluff. He is thought not to get along with Baljeet but in one episode he saves him from a bull (in some episodes, it's shown that he cares deeply for Balijeet and they're actually friends). He also speaks perfect French as seen in "Summer Belongs to You". It's also shown that he has stolen his friends bikes over the years; in "Summer Belongs to You," he bets with Phineas and Ferb that he will return everyone's bikes if they are successful, but that they have to do nothing the rest of the summer if they fail. Through the whole trip he claims he just wants to see them fail, he clearly enjoys himself. At the end, when it appears he will win, Buford, wanting Phineas and Ferb to win, returns everyone's bikes to make the final leg of the trek and thanks to that, Phineas and Ferb succeed and win. In "Raging Bully," it's mentioned that he has a missing chromosome. He also sings "I Want Nothing" in "The Wizard of Odd".
Baljeet (voiced by Maulik Pancholy) is Phineas' and Ferb's friend and neighbor. He is an Indian-American who helps them with their big ideas in many episodes. Baljeet is good at algebra, passive, and very polite. He enjoys trivia, learning, and has a compulsive need to get good grades. Even though Buford constantly bullies him, the two share a very strong bond. This is evidenced when Buford called for help when he was stuck in a tree in "The Beak". He was also Buford's "little master" in one episode, and since then have been really good friends. They commonly refer to each other as, Buford to Baljeet, "Little master" or "My nerd", and, Baljeet to Buford, "My angry wall of meat." He often puts himself down when he fails to get an A, or in other cases, he will say, "Well, I'll go start hanging up the Shame Curtains." In one episode, he sings a song about entering a summer camp thinking it is a geology course, which turns out to be a camp about performing rock and roll. When he finds out, he sings about how upset he is that he won't get a grade, hence its song title. The song is titled, "Give Me A Grade", by the Baljeetles, a parody to The Beatles. In "Unfair Science Fair", it is shown that he can't build, despite his math abilities. He still has family in India, including an uncle who operates a rubber band factory. It has been shown that he once lived in India and was best friends with a tom-boy girl called Misti in "That Sinking Feeling", when she visits him again in America she has grown very beautiful and Baljeet develops a crush on her, but, she just wants to have fun like they used to (playing soccer [football in other countries] and getting covered in mud). Baljeet accepts this and they have a water fight. Also, Baljeet sings "I Want To Be Cool" in the Wizard of Odd episode but, his song is cut short by Candace.
Recurring Characters
Irving Du Bois (Jack McBrayer) is Phineas' and Ferb's self-proclaimed biggest fan. He always carries a scrapbook that he filled with images and souvenirs from Phineas and Ferb's big ideas with him (such as the roller coaster, the chariot race, and the boys with soup, from the time they created Chez Platypus, and a lock of Ferb's hair.
Django Brown (Alec Holden) is Phineas and Ferb's Australian American friend. He can surf, as seen in Lawn Gnome Beach Party of Terror. Django is the son of the artist Beppo Brown (Oil on Candace), who is famous for his work in making giant creations, from refrigerators to dental floss, and the brother of Jenny Brown. He can be seen again in "Jerk De Soleil", attempting to put his foot behind his head as part of a circus act known as the 'Human Pretzel'. He plays the electric violin at the "Summer Rocks" concert in "The Baljeatles". He is also seen briefly in "Out of Toon" and "Candace's Big Day". He has seen only once past Rollercoaster: The Musical!, which was a cameo in Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension, with the shark from "The Belly of the Beast".
Pinky the Chihuahua (Dee Bradley Baker) is Isabella's pet chihuahua. Much like Perry the Platypus, Pinky also lives a double-life as a secret agent for the O.W.C.A. under the codename of "Agent P", in a division run by a commander named Wanda, who is also aware of Major Monogram's division being in the area, when Perry is accidentally transported to their HQ in "Day of the Living Geletin". Pinky's nemesis is Professor Poofenplotz. Although he does not like dog food, Pinky will eat just about anything—especially his favorite; grilled cheese sandwiches, and even inedible objects (having once swallowed Isabella's Fireside Girl sash). Pinky always shakes as an ongoing joke about how Chihuahuas are always shaking from being excited. Pinky has also eaten a shrunken Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz in a mini-sub in "Journey to the Center of Candace", his first appearance.
Suzy Johnson (Kari Wahlgren), known as Little Suzy Johnson, is the little sister of Jeremy and also the secondary antagonist to Buford. She has a high-pitched squeaky voice and appears very sweet and innocent. However, she is actually very spoiled and manipulative; she always has to get her own way and is very possessive over Jeremy, once saying to Candace, "There is only one girl in Jeremy's life" and thus will do anything to keep Candace away from her brother, but in "Suddenly Suzy," she said it was only if Candace was near Jeremy and so helped Candace try to bust Phineas and Ferb. She does not have a lot of interaction with other main characters besides her brother and Candace but in it is shown that Buford Van Stomm knows her and he is afraid of her and was dressed as her to scare Isabella from her hiccups in "One Good Scare Ought to do it!" Also, in "Nerds of a Feather" it is shown that Suzy likes Duckie Momo. And in "The Wizard of Odd" Suzy is crushed under the Flynn-Fletcher home.
Dr. Hirano (Ming Wen) is Stacy's mother. She removed Isabella's tonsils in I Scream, You Scream. Whenever Candace says Stacy is a genius, Stacy will say, "Could you call my mom and tell her that?" It appears that Dr. Hirano doesn't think her daughter is very smart. In "Dude, We're Getting The Band Back Together," it's said that "Love Handel" is Stacy's mom's favorite band. Stacy then calls her mom to tell her that "Love Handel" is reforming. Dr. Hirano was also in "Does This Duckbill Make Me Look Fat?" when she said she liked how Perry The Platypus's hat looked on Candace. Dr. Hirano is also shown in "Robot Rodeo" because Candace has to prove that she is mature so that Stacy can go to a concert with her.
Love Handel: A rock band idolized by many in the Danville Tri-State Area, first seen the episode "Dude, We're Gettin' the Band Back Together!" Lawrence Fletcher and Linda Flynn shared their first kiss at a Love Händel concert. Shortly afterward, plagued by infighting caused by the pressures of a dwindling fanbase, Love Händel split up. Lead Singer Danny (Jaret Reddick) became the owner of Danny's Music Shop. Danny also appeared for a split-second in the "Mix-Mingle Machine" song in the episode "Cheer-up Candace". Bass Player Bobbi Fabulous (Carlos Alazraqui) became the owner of Bobbi's Fashion Salon and Linda's hairdresser. Sherman "Swampy" (Steve Zahn from "Dude, We're Getting The Band Back Together") ended up working at the Danville Public Library. He believed he had lost his rhythm after falling asleep in a metronome factory, yet this proved not to be the case, as he proceeded to sing a song about it. Eventually all three members are convinced to reunite for a concert in the Flynn/Fletcher's backyard, in which they sing their hit song "You Snuck your Way Right into my Heart". Love Händel also sang the song "He Couldn't Kick his Way Right into Her Heart" (altered lyrics from their original song) in one of Dr. Doofenshmirtz's occasional flashbacks, this time in the episode "Thaddeus and Thor". Love Händel sang in the parade in the episode "Hip Hip Parade". Though not appearing on-screen, they also sang the song "Bouncin' Around the World" in "Summer Belongs to You." They also appeared briefly in the episode "Just Passing Through". Another song Love Händel sings is "The Ballad of Klimpaloon" in the "Summer Belongs to You" album. They reappeared as main characters in "Delivery of Destiny".
Vanessa Doofenshmirtz (Olivia Olson) is Heinz and Charlene Doofenshmirtz's 16-year-old daughter. She is sarcastic, mild-mannered, cynical,dresses in a goth style, and is Ferb's crush. Vanessa is aware that her father is a mad scientist and knows about her father's nemesis, Perry the Platypus. She is often exasperated by her father whenever he tries to establish a "Father-daughter" bond between them, as he doesn't really understand her interests and often assumes that she is also interested in "evil". She often tries to convince her mom that her dad is an "evil mad scientist" but, much like Candace, ultimately always fails when she does appear trying to bust him. She does, however, occasionally show appreciation for what he does for her, as he is clearly dedicated to her and he taught her how to drive. Ferb has had a crush on Vanessa since he first saw her in "I Scream You Scream" and in "Vanessassary Roughness" he helped her get something for her father and even saved her life which she is very grateful for. He also very nearly told her what 'Ferb' was short for. In "The Chronicles of Meap", Ferb passes Vanessa in a spaceship and makes her smile. In Summer Belongs to You, she is rescued by Ferb's passing jet plane as she is knocked off of Tokyo Tower by her father's giant water balloon, demonstrating she remembers him, though she remains oblivious to his affections for her. She also has a complicated relationship with Candace, having fought over a doll with her in one episode, yet being on friendly terms with her in "Phineas and Ferb Summer Belongs to You!". By coincidence, Candace often crashes, and lands into, yells at, or even travels next to Vanessa, and have met three times. Vanessa also seems to have a very good singing voice. Vanessa had a close friend named Lacey (coincidentally rhyming with Stacy, Candace's best friend). She had a crush on a boy named Johnny, though she broke up with her. She now dates Monty Monogram as of "Minor Monogram", after breaking up with Johnny. She went out with Monty in "Sipping with the Enemy"and "My Sweet Ride". In the episode "Dude, We're Getting the Band Back Together" Vanessa thanks Perry the Platypus for fixing her 16th birthday by having Doofensmirtz shoot all the decorations with a ray gun. She is a very flexible and athletic which is seen in "Vanessassary Roughness", being able to leap far lengths and doing splits with no trouble. Ferb appears to have a crush on Vanessa, as revealed in the episode "I Scream, You Scream," "Chronicles of Meap," and "Vanessassary Roughness." In "Vanessassary Roughness", Ferb helps Vanessa obtain an item that her father wanted in order to prove to him that she is responsible enough to own a car. She thanks Ferb by giving him a kiss on the cheek.
Charlene Doofenshmirtz (Allison Janney): Doofenshmirtz's ex-wife although she still seems to like Doofenshmirtz a little. She is in the same cooking class as Linda Flynn. Her daughter, Vanessa Doofenshmirtz, tries to show her that her ex-husband, Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz, is evil and fights against a secret agent platypus named Agent P. Charlene is friends with Linda. Charlene seems to think that Vanessa is crazy and needs professional help.
Norm (John Viener) is Heinz's formally evil robot. He had been trained to destroy Perry, but he failed. He was a one-time member of the Organization Without a Cool Acronym, but was fired since he wasn't an animal. In "A Real Boy", he sung for the first time, explaining (in rap form) how a real boy would be like for him. He sang a second time in "Norm Unleashed". He has another head on him, as seen in "Candace Disconnected") (voiced by Joel McHale), but it was too sarcastic for Heinz to be useful, so he put the head in his basement.
Vivian Garcia-Shapiro (Eileen Galindo) or simply "Viv", is Isabella's mother, and lives across the street from Phineas and Ferb. She plays upright bass in a jazz band with Linda Flynn and Jeremy's mom. She is known to talk very fast and often makes useless comments such as "Oh, Candace, look how tall you've gotten" from "The Fast and the Phineas" when they had only seen each other in less than a week, and again only a few minutes later. She called Isabella Isa in "Hide and Seek" and is sometimes has little get togethers with Linda Flynn. She is very much of one of Linda's best friends. She is Mexican, but also Jewish.
Grandma Winifred Fletcher and Grandpa Reginald Fletcher (Jane Carr andMalcolm McDowell) are Ferb's grandparents and Lawrence Fletcher's parents that live in England. Known alternatively as the "Flying Fishmonger", Grandpa Reginald used to be a daredevil 40 years ago, driving a fish-shaped motorcycle called "The Holey Mackerel" and having an "anthem" so dreary that it automatically made it rain. This caused the postponing of several attempts to jump McGregor's Gorge, but once Phineas, Ferb, Isabella, and the Fireside Girls upped the tempo, Grandpa Reginald finally was able to jump the replica of McGregor's Gorge made in the backyard.
Roger Doofenshmirtz (John O'Hurley) is Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz's younger brother. Heinz very often states angrily that Roger is their mother's favorite son. He is a very good kickball player, as seen in "Thaddeus and Thor". In "Tree to Get Ready" he states that he is "the most handsome and charming man in the Tri-State area" and in "Hail Doofania!" he was elected mayor of Danville, which he also appeared as in "Just Passing Through", "The Beak", and "She's the Mayor". Although his brother has an accent, and although they grew up in the same place, Roger does not have any accent. This may be a result of Roger's efforts to portray a more mainstream American image (to bolster his political career) and to distance himself from his eccentric brother Heinz.
Mrs. Johnson (voiced by Jane Lynch in season 3 onward) is Jeremy and Suzy's mom. She has not been seen talking and is in Mrs. Flynn's jazz band, however, Lynch from Glee recorded dialogue for Jeremy's mother on January 13, 2010, to be used in a future episode, according to Dan Povenmire from Twitter. The episode was for "Canderemy", and has spoke in some other Season 3 episodes as well.
Jenny Brown (Alyson Stoner) is Candace's second best friend, who is a hippie. She wears a peace symbol necklace and she says that she hopes for world peace. She is Django's older sister and daughter to Beppo Brown.
The Giant Floating Baby Head has appeared in some episodes as a running gag. In an interview, Dan Povenmire stated that the head had originated from a storyboard panel that writer Mike Diederich had drawn which director Rob Hughes found hilarious enough to create an entire bit around. The head also bears a resemblance to the giant baby when Django and the boys visit Beppo Brown's art exhibit in the art museum from "Oil on Candace". It appears in several episodes, mostly as a cameo, but the upcoming episode "Night of the Giant Floating Baby Head" will have it as a main role.
Minor Characters
Balthazar Horowitz (Django Marsh) is a character that is seen in several episodes on the show, mostly as a cameo character. He saw Perry as a secret agent in "I was a Middle-Aged Robot". He also saw Candance being chased by animals in the episode "Interview with a Platypus". In "Backyard Hodge Podge", his first name was revealed for the first time.
Meap (Voiced by Lorenzo Lamas, Jeff Foxworthy with a southern accent and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh with British Mustache in "Meapless in Seattle") is an intergalactic security agent, who travels around the universe helping any planet that's in danger. He has the ability to shoot a ray that can disintigrates clothes (referring to the Bangaroo guards he shot) and destroys robots such as the one's on Mitch's ship. His nemesis is the evil alian Mitch. At one point, Meap crashed on the planet Earth, and faced the trials of dealing with humans and new customs. For the whole episode, he only makes a "meap" (hence the name "Meap") but at the end when he defeats Mitch, he takes off Mitch's mustache, and puts it on, causing him to speak with a much lower voice, since it is an "Intergalactic Communicator." ("The Chronicles of Meap ") He makes a cameo appearance in 2009 Christmas special. In "Meapless in Seattle," he took Phineas, Candace, Ferb, and Isabella to his planet to save his army from Mitch's evil, cute plan. When Meap failed to do so, Isabella saved the day with her own cuteness.
Albert Du Bois: (Diedrich Bader) He is Irving's Brother. He has appeared in "Not Phineas and Ferb", "The Doof Side of the Moon", and "Nerds of a Feather". Albert is also known as "The Truth Detector". Albert has tan hair and wears a pair of black horn-rimmed glasses. He also has an apparent crush on Candace Flynn. What he didn't realize though was he did not figure that the Eiffel Tower in the backyard was a hologram and that Buford and Baljeet were Phineas and Ferb. Also in "The Doof Side of the Moon", Albert teams up with Candace Flynn.
Farmer and wife: The wife always tells her husband "I can't believe you (blank) without getting a (blank)" and then it falls from the sky and sometimes hits her. For example, "I can't believe you bought a bunny farm but forgot to buy any bunnies!" A pack of rabbits then falls from the sky and hits her. Once the wife said the phrase to a Scottish mini-golf owner, and not her husband (to which the mini-golf owner replied "You'd be surprised at what falls out of the sky in Danville"). Why she said this to him is unknown.
Mitch: He is Meap's nemesis, voiced by David Mitchell. He is much like Dr. Doofenshmirtz, except he seems to be more of an evil villain than Doofenshmirtz. Mitch kidnaps aliens from their home planets and imprisons them in his ship. Isabella states that he is a poacher. Mitch appeared in "The Chronicles of Meap". He only speaks because he has a Universal Mustache Translator. Without it he can only say one word, "Meep" and has a slightly different appearance relative to Meap's. He is known for many names through out the galaxy but his friends call him "Big Mitch." Mitch reappeared in "Meapless in Seattle" to try to be the cutest thing ever, but was foiled by Isabella's own cuteness.
Peter the Panda: Replaced Perry as Dr. Doofenshmirtz's nemisis in "It's About Time!". He does not "speak" in the whole episode. He may be in O.W.C.A., as he is in the Seattle division. He reappears in "Meapless in Seattle" to help Perry get to Mitch, and "Sidetracked" as a special guest to arrest Professor Bannister. He also cameos in the film, helping to get rid of the Norm Bots.
Coltrane (Corbin Bleu) is a friend of Jeremy Johnson and the bassist in his band, Jeremy and the Incidentals. He has a crush on Stacy Hirano and he's an instructor at Baljeet's summer rock camp. He was later seen watching Jeremy's TV commercial with him; he then changed the channel to see if Jeremy's commercial was on on another channel, only to see Candace on Phineas and Ferb's quiz show on the episode "Let's Take A Quiz". It is also seen that in "The Best Lazy Day Ever" and "The Baljeatles" he and Stacy are together, which is slightly expanded in "Happy New Year!", as they are seen dancing with each other.
Mrs. Doofenshmirtz (Cloris Leachman) is the mother of Heinz and Roger. She likes to watch her children play kickball and along with her husband is the cause of much of Heinz's misery and mental anguish. She refers to Roger being her favorite child and often ignores Heinz.
Johnson family poodle: The black poodle is a pet of Suzy and Jeremy Johnson, is seen in "One Good Scare Outta Do It!" and "Interview with a Platypus". It seems that Suzy has trained the poodle to be aggressive to Candace Flynn, which was shown when Candace and Jeremy where playing video games at the Johnson's house in the episode,"Interview with a Platypus" .
Bob Webber (John Larroquette) is a lifeguard in "The Lake Nose Monster". He assigned Candace and Jeremy to save people, but none needed to be rescued. He also appeared in "Candace's Big Day" to marry the boy's aunt, Tiana Weber. In "The Lake Nose Monster" whenever someone says okay, you could hear his voice ecoing okay. He also appears in "Ferb TV" in the Dancing with the Bears segment.
Johnny (voiced by Logan Miller) is a goth teenager that likes Vanessa and she has said that he is her boyfriend.(as quoted by Dr. Heinz Doofensmirtz: "I was looking through your address book, and I saw hearts next to his name. I think I know what that means!....") He has appeared in "Dude, We're Getting the Band Back Together" and "Brain Drain". He broke up with Vanessa in "Minor Monogram".
O.W.C.A. stands for "Organization Without a Cool Acronym" whose sole purpose is to stop any villains from running amuck in the Tri State Area. So far, the only two commanders that are known is Major Francis Monogram (Perry's commanding officer) who is the Head Of O.W.C.A and he has a Assistant whose name is Carl Karl and Wanda Acronym (Pinky's commanding officer). The organization consist mainly of animal agent (with an exception of a few). Monogram himself isn't sure why the organization consist of mostly animals. Currently, there are 4 known Agent P's in the series. They are Agent Perry the Platypus, Phineas & Ferb's pet; Agent Pinky the Chihuahua, Isabella's pet; Agent Peter the Panda, Perry's temporary replacement; and Agent Planty the Potted Plant, the organization's first plant agent from "No More Bunny Business". Pronounced "AHH-WOO-KA", Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz quotes, in the episode, "Summer Belongs to You!", "Wow, that really isn't a cool acronym...".
Marty the Rabbit Boy (and his musical blender): He is a rabbit boy with a deep voice that plays his musical blender. He and his blender look like Phineas and Ferb behind the curtain and Candace has made the error of mistaking them as her brothers twice. He has been featured in two episodes, "Flop Starz" and "Oh, There You Are, Perry". In Flop Starz he supposedly becomes the Next American Pop Teen Idol Star. Candace is convinced she could beat him in the competition, and regrets missing her chance to sing with her brothers on stage, and says that she "Should've taken Blender Lessons!".
The Regurgitator is a villain that was set at high priority at the O.W.C.A. because he was supposedly more evil than Dr. Doofenshmirtz, causing Perry to be temporarily transferred to the Quad-State Area. However, Perry is able to beat him just as easliy as Heinz. He only appears in "Oh, There You Are Perry" and "Rollercoaster: The Musical!".
Wanda Acronym (Jane Leeves): She is presumably one of the leaders of The O.W.C.A. She is the head of the Division Pinky is in, acting as Pinky's commanding officer in the same fashion as Major Monogram to Perry.
Mindy (Ashley Tisdale/Alyson Stoner) is a teenager who has a crush on Jeremy. She wears a stripy blue and green shirt and has blonde hair. Mindy was seen in Jerk De Soleil when she asked Jeremy to sit with her, only to be replied with, "Sorry, but I promised Candace." from Jeremy. She was also seen in "Hail Doofania!", when she sees Candace with Vanessa's clothes on and asks, "Candace, when did you go goth?".
The Talking Zebra As said in his name he is a talking Zebra, he appears briefly and usually refers to Candace as "Kevin". He has appeared in "The Ballad of Badbeard", when Candace followed Perry onto a pier while he was on a mission. When she said how weird it all was, The Talking Zebra appeared next to her on a rocking chair saying that it gets weirder. When Candace found that the blue moss caused illusions and not the brown moss which she touched, she didn't know if what she saw was real. She then touched the blue moss by accident, and the Talking Zebra appeared next to here with a fake beard and completmented her on her fake beard(which everyone was wearing since Phineas and Ferb found a huge treasure chest full of them). He appeared again in "Phineas and Ferb Get Busted!" at the end when Candace's parent turn out to be puppets controlled by a giant Baljeet, who then turns out to be a puppet controlled by the talking Zebra who says "I'm just as confused as you Kevin", Candace even said in that episode right after that she sees him all the time. he makes a cameo in the film in the song Brand New Reality.
The Maid (sometimes called Nancy) is Doofenshmirtz's maid. Even though she is an unseen character, Dr. D is often mad at her because she sometimes inadvertently helps Perry defeat Doofenshmirtz. For Example: Doofenshmirtz set a near fatal trap at the front door of his lair after just telling Perry to enter through the front entrance. But Nancy left the back door open which caused Perry to untentionally escape the trap. Dr. D repeatedly threatened to fire her, yet he still hasn't fired her just yet, as he still gives her second chances.
Professor Poofenplotz (voiced by Amanda Plummer) only appears in "Isabella and the Temple of Sap,", "Rollercoaster: The Musical!", "Excaliferb", and "Bee Story". Professor Poofenplotz is Pinky the Chihuahua's nemesis. Poofenplotz believes that she can't take over the world unless she looks beautiful. Her favorite line of hairspray is Stiff Beauty. Unfortunately for her, Stiff Beauty was discontinued and the only supply left was at the old abandoned Old Abandoned Amusement Park, before the sap ride fell down from Holly breaking the ride by punching it, causing it to fall when Poofenplotz screamed. Her catchphrase, simillar to that of Dr. Doofenshmirtz, is "Curse you, Pinky the Chihuahua!" She also fails trying to get to a factory where she can grow bigger and become Queen Bee in "Bee Day'".
Gaston Le Mode (French Stewart): He is the world's most famous clothing designer. In the episode "Run Away, Runaway", he is sending his designs on the ramp in Danville's mall. He is looking for someone to wear an extremely high-collared ballerina dress he had designed, but can't find anyone who is capable of wearing it besides Candace - because of her long neck.Then, Phineas and Ferb come up with their own summer clothing and present it to Gaston who decides to make Phineas and Ferb's summer clothing the new mode throughout the world - in Paris, London, Moscow, etc. He tells Candace and the other models to put it on but Candace refuses to wear her brothers' designed outfit. But later she finds out she has missed her chance of being famous - now everyone is following the new Summer trend including her best friend Stacy (who is wearing Ferb's outfit) who tells Candace that her ballerina dress designed by the world famous Gaston Le Mode is: "Soooo 42 seconds ago!".
Chad: Chad is a character that is only seen in "The Secret of Success". He and Stacy go out after seeing each other when they were in the same place as Candace and Baljeet at the convention.
Buford's Bully: The Bully is a bully to neighbourhood kids. He appeared in a flashback in "Voyage to the Bottom of Buford", in which he tries to eat Buford's fish, Biff. He later appeared in the "Tuff Gum" advert in "Suddenly Suzy".
Danny "DD" Dukenson is a Swedish exchange student who only appeared in "S'Winter". When Jeremy asks DD to go skiing with him, from Candace's point of view (DD's back) it appears that DD is a girl, when later she finds that he is a boy.
André Guilbaud is a chef with a French accent and a teacher at the local cooking class. Pierre is also Linda Flynn's cooking teacher. Pierre always wants everyone's attention in his cooking class. For example, when Candace called Linda to tell her about the boy's newest contraption, Chef Pierre took her cell phone and banged it with a mallet, crushing the cellphone into tiny pieces. Then he ordered her to pay attention and not use the phone ever again in his class. Pierre always pairs up Linda with Charlene Doofenshmirtz.
Thaddeus and Thor: (Danny Cooksey, Thaddeus) They are Phineas and Ferb's snooty competition in the episode "Thaddeus and Thor". They are known for the line "Gum me." Their older sister Mandy challenges Candace to make her brothers build an amazing fort. While Thaddeus is very vocal, Thor remains silent throughout the episode, like Ferb Fletcher.
Mandy: She is Thaddeus and Thor's sister and looks like Candace. Like Candace, she tries to bust her brothers, only to fail. She reappears in "Perry the Actorpus" to help daughters stop busting brothers, of which Candace enrolled, but had failed to remember to stop doing so.
Steve: He is Phineas and Ferb's pet chameleon that has only been on "The Lizard Whisperer", in which Dr. Doofenshmirtz made him a giant chameleon or a "dinosaur", but in the end he was made small again. He and Ferb have a special bond.
Mr. Miggins: He is Candace Flynn's stuffed teddy bear. Based on his appearance, he has been with her a very long time: Fluffy has been patched at least twice. Candace also threw him away when she thought Suzy would use it to humiliate her, but in Summer Belongs To You! she woke up from bed with the bear right next to her. In another episode, "Boyfriend from 27,000 B.C.", he appeared with a picture of Jeremy Johnson's face taped to it. Candace asked him his opinion on what she should wear to Stacy's costume party, and replied, "Gee, Candace. I don't know. I think you look beautiful in everything.".
Lyla Lolliberry (Samantha Bee) is a Canadaian Agwnt working for C.O.W.C.A. (Canadian Organization Without a Cool Acronym) and helps Perry try to get rid of Professor Bannister while saving Albert the Moose, while on a train which is bordering the U.S.A. and Canada. She currently only appears in "Sidetracked", however Samantha recorded dialogue for a future episode July 16, 2013, which may mean Lyla could return..
Balloony is an old friend of Dr. Doofenshmirtz that he lost when he was a lawn gnome. Balloony only appears in two episodes, when Meap comes to Danville and Ferb fixes his rocket. In the trailer of "Meapless in Seattle", it hints that Balloony might be in the future episode, with most fans believing he may be played at an antagonist. However, just was a minor character in the episode, and was popped, but was repaired by Perry.
Mishti Patel (Tiya Sircar) Is Baljeet's friend from India. Mishti was friends with Baljeet, they played soccer and got very muddy. Baljeet eventually left for America with his family so Mishti eventually went to visit him. She had grown into a beautiful, attractive young girl (this shocked Baljeet so much he ran away). Baljeet developed a crush on Mishti, but, she just wanted to have fun like in old times. Phineas set up a romantic cruise and Mishti only went because she wanted to go sailing (she didn't get the chance to hear the "Romantic" part of it). After the ship sunk and they escaped, Mishti revealed to Baljeet she just wanted to be friends with him, he agreed and they had a water fight. She reappears in "Rollercoaster: The Musical" with Baljeet on Nosey.
Khaka Peu Peu (Ben Stiller) is a villain who wants everyone to have the worst day ever, since he has never had a good day in his life. When he got the Fireside Girl Gazette from Isabella, he knew what to do: Terrorize Danville and let them have the worst day ever. He only has appeared in "The Beak".
Santa Claus: He has been seen in 3 episodes: "I, Brobot", "The Wizard of Odd" and "Phineas and Ferb's Christmas Vacation".
Klimpaloon: He appeared in "Phineas and Ferb: Summer Belongs to You", where he was described as "the magical old-timey bathing suit that lives in the Himalayas". Love Händel also sang a song about him called The Ballad of Klimpaloon. He appears in "Ferb TV" for The Klimpaloon and Giant Floating Baby Head Hour segement of the episode.
New Fireside Girls
In Season 2, four new Fireside Girls were seen for the first time, but two of them haven't been given names yet and one may not be real. Also, in Season 3, 3 more were shown, and their names were mentioned.
The Unnamed Fireside Girl (blond) has long blond-hair with a red watch on her left arm. She has been seen in four episodes so far: "I was a Middle-Aged Robot", "The Beak", "Wizard of Odd", and "Phineas and Ferb: Summer Belongs to You"! Her name hasn't been reveal yet.
The Unknown Fireside Girl (brunette) has brown hair in a ponytail with ear-rings. Her only appearance was "I was a Middle-Aged Robot".
Melissa (Meira Binkoff) is a Lil' Spark(aka Junior Fireside Girl) that appears in "We Call It Maze" who was going for her first patch. She admires Candace for earning 50 patches in one day. She is also the youngest scout seen so far in the series. She also cameos in "Great Balls of Water" and "Happy Birthday, isabella".
The Dream Fireside Girl (Isabella Murad) appeared in "Wizard of Odd". She said that she had saliva in her mouth and may not be real due to the episode being mostly in a dream.
Linda (Voiced by Caroline Rhea) still owns and runs the Antique store from 20 years ago when she saw present Candace and Candace told her what Phineas and Ferb were doing all the time, and she believed it,but didn't bust them because Phineas and Ferb are about 30 years old. She has only appeared in "Phineas and Ferb's Quantum Boogaloo" to date.
Future Candace: The Candace in the Future (Voiced by Ashley Tisdale using her adult voice) is the form of Candace featured in "Phineas and Ferb's Quantum Boogaloo". Future Candace is shown at age 35. This is known because present Candace is 15, as she has a learner's driving permit, and the future part of "Phineas and Ferb's Quantum Boogaloo" is 20 years in the future. Future Candace eventually discovers the Time Machine at the Museum and travels back in time to the day of the episode "Rollercoaster". There she prevents the chain of events that led to the rollercoaster being taken away. This had the determental effect of causing Perry to get injured and when Future Candace returned to her original time, she found it has become an industrial wasteland and Doofenshmirtz had become the absolute ruler and everyone had to wear a version of his smock and go by the name Joe regardless of their gender (so Dr. Doofenshmirtz wouldn't have to bother remembering more than one name). Future Candace eventually found the time machine and restored the original timeline with help from present Isabella. The Candaces also appear in "Rollercoaster: The Musical!" when Candace tries to get Linda out of the supermarket.
Amanda, Fred, & Xavier (Voiced by Jennifer Stone, Moises Arias, and Noah Munck respectively) are Candace's future children featured in "Phineas and Ferb's Quantum Boogaloo". At the future point, Amanda is about the same age as Present Candace as is like her in many ways, including trying to rat out her two younger brothers, Fred and Xavier to Future Candace who becomes like Linda. Fred and Xavier, being at Phineas and Ferb's current age, are almost opposite of Phineas and Ferb, preferring to just lie by their holographic tree instead of doing anything until Phineas and Ferb convince them to get creative, not knowing that they have met their uncles at a younger age. When Amanda claimed that present Isabella looks like her Aunt Isabella, Isabella thought she married Phineas. When Present Candace added "or Ferb", Isabella shuddered indicating the concept was one which Isabella was not pleased about. Their last name was not specified but since it has been stated by Candace that she already had plans to marry Jeremy and have two kids, Amanda and Xavier, she must have had three and named the third Fred, it can be reasonably assumed that their last names are Johnson.
According to a March 3, 2010 Disney press release, a made-for-television film, based on Phineas and Ferb entitled Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension, has been aired, with a Disney Channel release date of August 5, 2011. The film concerned Phineas and Ferb accidentally helping Dr. Doofenshmirtz with an invention of his, which took them to a parallel dimension. There, Perry revealed his double life as a secret agent to them, and to save their friends from an alternative Dr. Doofenshmirtz, who was far more devious and threatening than his prime counterpart, they team up with their alternate dimension selves to stop him.
Theatrical Film
Main article: Phineas and Ferb (feature film)
On January 11, 2011, Disney Channel Worldwide chief Gary Marsh announced that an animated/live-action feature film based on Phineas and Ferb was in development by Tron: Legacy producer Sean Bailey. Series creators Dan & Swampy are in the early stages of writing the film, for a release in 2013. In an interview, media gossiper Jim Hill revealed that Disney's idea for the movie would include the beginning and the ending of the movie being animated, but the middle portion having the characters portrayed by actors. However, the movie wouldn't be as big-budgeted as a Pixar film, would be released late in summer, and would include at least one popular actor, like Jim Carrey, as Doofenshmirtz, to get parents interested in it. As of September 6, 2011, Dan and Swampy have finished writing the script.
On October 14, 2011, the film, tentatively titled simply Phineas and Ferb, was given the release date of July 26, 2013. The date had previously belonged to Thor: The Dark World, but had been pushed back to November 2013 in favor of Phineas and Ferb. Currently, the movie is scheduled to be released sometime in 2014. On August 16, 2013, it was reported that the film had been pushed back yet again to an unknown date.

Phineas and Ferb's Funny Show

Recently, Phineas and Ferb are the host of their own spin-off talk show called Phineas and Ferb's Funny Show. The first local production for Disney Channel South Korea, it consists of the shows's two titular characters interviewng celebrities familiar to the South Korean community, such as famous K-Pop stars and sports figures. Lasting about 10 minutes n length, it airs prior to Phineas and Ferb in South Korea.[1]
Disney has produced a live-action talk show where the two characters (as cartoons) interview celebrities, which is similar to Space Ghost Coast to Coast which began airing in December 3, 2010 as a two and a half minute talk-show format, featuring real-life celebrities such as Tony Hawk, Randy Jackson, Seth Rogen, Taylor Swift, Andy Samberg, Emma Roberts, Jack Black, Regis Philbin, Howie Mandel and David Beckham. It ended November 25, 2011 after 20 episodes had been ran, and its last aring was sometime in July 2012 on Disney Channel.
Potential
According to a New York Times article released on June 22, 2010, Disney is considering a possible spin-off that would focus mainly on Isabella and her Fireside Girls troop which may come as early as summer 2014.
The phrases "What'cha doin'?" and "Yes, yes we are" are used in several cartoons, including SpongeBob Sqaurepants, Johnny Test, Ben 10: Ultimate Alien, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, and the 2010 movie Scooby-Doo! Camp Scare. Before the show was made, Dory from the 2003Pixar film Finding Nemo also used the phrase "What'cha doin'?" Phineas and Ferb were also seen in an episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition with Vincent Martella doing the voice of Phineas. "Yes, yes we are" was also said in a Buick commercial. "What'cha Doin'?" was also said in the December 18, 2011 comic of "For Better or Worse".
