Philip Seymour Hoffman (July 23, 1967 - February 2, 2014) was an American actor and director who won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his role as writer Truman Capote in the 2005 biographical film Capote. He also received three Academy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actor for his roles in Charlie Wilson's War, Doubt, and The Master.

He played Cochran in the 1993 Hollywood Pictures film, Money for Nothing, Chuck Bronski in My Boyfriend's Back, Gary in the 1994 Touchstone Pictures film When a Man Loves a Woman and Jacob Elinsky in 25th Hour. He was mentioned in Geek Charming.
