Petrov Trunkov, also known as Oilski, is a minor antagonist in the 2011 DisneyPixar animated feature film Cars 2.

Background[]

Official Description[]

"Petrov hails from a tiny village on the Baltic Sea where temperatures in winter drop down to a frigid -10°C. And if that's not enough, the salty air and rocky roadways have irreversibly corroded his body panels. But Petrov really doesn't mind. In fact, he likes his engine air very cool, and thinks the bubbling rust makes him look more 'mileage mature'. Add the fact that he carries most of his weight in his rear-end and it's a wonder he doesn't break in half when the going gets rough."[1]

Physical appearance[]

He is modeled after a ZAZ-968 Zaporozhets with one adjustment: the letter T on his front bumper which stands for his last name; Trunkov.

Petrov is painted light green, with a rusty bumper and lower bottom indicators. His rims are brown and rusty, as well his headlights, and the rest of his body.

According to his diecast, his license plate is 19-71 SMK, the same of Vladimir Trunkov and Tolga Trunkov.

Personality and traits[]

Like other Lemons, Petrov is a cold-hearted terrorist who was wanted for murdering innocent cars. He also can be sadistic when he nearly killed Finn McMissile.

Development[]

Concept art shows a light green Trunkov, who appears to be Petrov, in the airport chase scene, though he was replaced. He also appears to have been replaced by Grem as the Lemons' camera operator in Porto Corsa. This evidence suggests that Petrov was originally intended to be an important henchman, similar to Acer and Grem.[2] However, he remains in the film in a minor appearance in the opening scenes of Cars 2.

Role in the film[]

When C.H.R.O.M.E. agent Finn McMissile infiltrates an ilegal Oil Rig platform and saw that Leland Turbo was crushed to death like a cube, he was discovered by Professor Zündapp, and then blew up several members of the Lemons. Petrov is seen in the Lemon army on the oil platform to surround and attack McMissile but Finn purposely jumps into the sea.

Trivia[]

  • Concept art reveals that Petrov was originally going to be one of the main two lemons (with Acer), but was later replaced with Grem.
  • His name varies (incorrectly) in merchandise: Zapor, Petrov Oilski (shown by the Geotrax toy version of him), and Trunkov.
  • It is revealed in the Cars Magazines that he is known to be very dangerous.
  • His color and model look similar to a skull.
  • It is possible that the village in which Petrov hails from is Zelenogradsk, as it's located near the Baltic Sea and the temperature there in the winter can reach between -5 °C to -10 °C.
  • He has a Latin letter S in his license plate, however, it's can be only Russian letters in Soviet license plate type.
  • He has a short cameo in World Grand Prix Races.
  • Petrov is modeled as a ZAZ-968 Zaporozhets with one tweak: the letter T on his front bumper representing his last name; Trunkov.
  • According to his diecast and LEGO version, Petrov's license plate is 19-71 SMK. In the movie, during the fight in London, when Holley crashed two Pacers into two Trunkovs with his wings, the Trunkov on the right has that plate. The one on the right has 70-21 SCB.
  • The Geo Trax toy version of him shows his name as "Petrov Oilski" instead of Petrov Trunkov.
