Paul Leonard Newman was an American actor, film director, producer, race car driver, IndyCar owner, entrepreneur, and activist. He was best known for his film roles as Doug Roberts in The Towering Inferno, Luke Jackson in Cool Hand Luke, Henry "Shaw" Gondorff in The Sting, and Frank Galvin in The Verdict, as well as the titular characters in The Hustler, Hud, Harper, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, and The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean.

For Disney, he voiced Doc Hudson in the 2006 Pixar film Cars, the role having been his final one, although he did reprise this role in the 2006 video game of the same name and Mater and the Ghost Light. Unused recordings of Newman originally recorded for Cars were also used for Doc Hudson in Cars 3.[1] Additionally, he played Fast Eddie Felson in The Color of Money.
