It tells of each and every day, since the beginning.

The Oraculum is the compendium of Underland seen in Tim Burton's 2010 film Alice in Wonderland and its sequel, Alice Through the Looking Glass.

History[]

It is an illustrated scroll that tells the history and future of Underland. Each day has its own name and picture.

The Fell Day is the day in which Queen Elsemere was baking tarts and young Iracebeth was eating most of them. After their mother sends them away, young Mirana sneaks a tart and drops crumbs which she kicks under Iracebeth's bed. When Elsemere finds the crumbs, she immediately questions Iracebeth and tells Mirana to tell the truth, but the latter lies, claiming that she didn't eat them. This lie causes Iracebeth to run away and hit her head on the Witzend town fountain, causing it to enlarge. This is also the day that a young Tarrant Hightopp fashions his first hat.

The Toomalie Day is the day the town of Witzend celebrated Princess Mirana’s coming of age, as well as the crowning of Princess Iracebeth as heir to the thrown. However, when the crown is placed on Iracebeth, it breaks due to her large head, and Tarrant Hightopp leads everyone in laugh to her misfortune. This infuriates Iracebeth and she throws a fit, which leads King Oleron to declare her unfit to rule and he names Mirana as his heir instead. Iracebeth declares vengeance on the Hightopp family thereafter.

The Horunvendush Day is the day the Jabberwocky attacks and burns down the town of Witzend and Iracebeth, the Red Queen takes dominion over Underland, as well as kidnaps Tarrant Hightopp's family and places them in an ant-farm, leading the hatter to believe them to be dead.

The Griblig Day is the day when 19 year old Alice Kingsleigh ventures into Underland, meets several other characters, and is chased by the Bandersnatch.

The Frabjous Day is the day when the final clash between the forces of the White Queen and Red Queen occurs. The battle ends with the White Queen winning her crown back after her champion, Alice, slays the Jabberwocky with the Vorpul Sword. The Red Queen is banished to the Outlands.

The Kebek Day is the day Tarrant Hightopp discovers the first hat he ever made lying in the ruins of the Witzend town and descends into a depression-like state, as he believes it a sign his family is still alive, but no one will believe him.

The Faldifal Day is the day in which Alice once again returns to Underland to find Tarrant Hightopp sick and begins her journey with the Chronosphere to go back in time to save the hatter's family.

Trivia[]

  • The Oraculum uses the original illustrations for Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass by John Tenniel, and its own movie-original illustrations are based on Tenniel's style.
  • Some of the Oraculum's illustrations (seen in the above gallery) are used on the menu screen for the Blu-Ray release of the first film.
    • One of them is, or is based on, the White Knight from the original Through the Looking-Glass book (as evidenced by his face, not concealed by a helmet). That iteration of the character did not appear in either film, and was instead simply represented by the generic unnamed white knight who formerly wielded the Vorpal Sword and wore a horse-shaped helmet.
