Ophidan Island is a small tropical island in the animated series Elena of Avalor. Located somewhere in the seventeen seas, Ophidan Island is considered a paradise. Surrounded by beautiful blues seas and sandy yellow beaches. Beyond the beaches lies the jungles and Mount Ophidan, the highest peak on the island. The most known natural inhabitants of the island's wildlife are the geckos.
The island was once populated by an ancient civilization known as the Ophindans, who worshipped lizards, especially geckos. In their honor, they built hidden monuments on the island dedicated to the Majesty of the Gecko. Everything in their architecture resembled a gecko in their designs. One of these known temples was built deep inside a chasm, rigged with booby traps to protect a magically cursed golden statue known as the Golden Gecko.
This temple would remain undiscovered for years until Avaloran Explorer, Antonio Agama, went in search of the Golden Gecko, and was turned into a giant Gecko when he removed the statue from its pedestal. Furthermore years, Antonio would remain on the Island as a gecko for many more years until Princess Elena and her family came to the island for a vacation. Elena, Isabel and Gabe journeyed back to the temple with Antonio to return the statue. Shortly after Antonio is free of the curse, a booby trap triggered by Gabe caused the entire temple to seal itself up. Luckily, Elena, Isabel, Gabe and Antonio managed to escape before they got trapped.
- The name of the island "Ophidan" is a reference to the word "Ophidia", which stands for a group of squamate reptiles including modern snakes and all reptiles more closely related to snakes than to other living groups of lizards.
