"Mental Altitude" is sung by Tigger to Piglet in the Book of Pooh story "Tigger's Replacement." In this story, Tigger is leaving the Hundred Acre Wood for a while, and Piglet will be the Wood's resident tigger while Tigger's out. So Tigger sings this song to teach Piglet about how to act like a real tigger by having a genuine tigger's mental "altitude."
The song is Track 7 on the album Playhouse Disney, one of six songs from the series included on the album. However, Piglet's spoken comments within the song are only present on the television story.
Lyrics
Tigger:
If you wanna talk da talk
And walk the walk
If you wanna bounce da bounce
And pounce the pounce
Let your thinkin' fly way up high
You'll soon see why
'Cause dere's no doubt
It's all about mental altitude
You gotta have a Tiggerific mental altitude
Piglet: B-but I don't even look like a Tigger.
Tigger:
If ya' haven't got stripes
No need to run and hide
You can still be a guy
Who wears his stripes inside
And just knowin' the stripes are dere
Will make ya' dare
To try and find
A Tiggerish kind of mental altitude
A bouncaracious, Tiggerific mental altitude
Piglet: W-well, I don't know.
Tigger:
It's confidenciosity that makes a Piglet roar
What else could whalify a mere sardine?
So rev your thinkin' engine up
And watch your spirits soar
You'll the see da world will be your trampoline
Piglet: Really?
Tigger:
And den you'll talkarate the talk
Piglet:
And walkify the walk?
Tigger:
Come on and bouncalate the bounce
Piglet:
And pouncitize the pounce?
Tigger:
And I think that you'll find
You'll be a lot like me
If day and night
Ya' keep da right
Mental altitude
Piglet:
Mental altitude
Tigger:
A bumptious, scrumptious, Tiggerific
Mental altitude
Piglet:
Mental altitude
Tigger:
A joyfulumptious, Tiggertastic, bouncish, pouncish, quite elastic, jumpalicious, bumperastic
