Lea Salonga-Chien, OLD (born February 22, 1971) is a Filipina soprano singer and actress who is well known for originating the lead role of Kim in the musical Miss Saigon and was also one of the first Asians to play the roles of Éponine and Fantine in the musical Les Misérables.
She is well known for providing the singing voices of Princess Jasmine in Aladdin in 1992, and Mulan in Mulan in 1998. Salonga reprises her role as Mulan's singing voice in Mulan II in 2005. As Jasmine, she recorded A Whole New World (duet with Brad Kane, the singing voice of Aladdin) and Reflection as Mulan. The afforementioned songs remain two of Salonga's most well-known.
Salonga was named a Disney Legend in 2011 for her work with the company.
In 2013, Salonga reprised the singing voice of Princess Jasmine for Sofia the First, in the episode "Two to Tangu." In this episode, she performed the song "The Ride of Our Lives," singing with Sofia the First (character) and Princess Amber.
