Lyman Frank Baum (May 15, 1856 - May 6, 1919) was an American author of children's books, best known for writing The Wonderful Wizard of Oz which was adapted into The Muppets' Wizard of Oz, the Phineas and Ferb episode "Wizard of Odd", the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse episode Minnie's the Wizard of Dizz and several episodes of Once Upon A Time. The book's sequel Return to Oz was adapted into the 1985 film by the same name. Oz: The Great and Powerful is a prequel to Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
