Jonathan Scott Frakes is an American actor, voice actor, author, director, and television host, who is best known for his role as William T. Riker in Star Trek: The Next Generation and all of its continuation spin-off films. He also hosted the Fox sci-fi series Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction.

Frakes went on to direct episodes for The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, Discovery, and Picard, as well as the TNG films Star Trek: First Contact and Star Trek: Insurrection. He later directed the feature films Clockstoppers (2002) and Thunderbirds (2004).

For Disney, he played Bob Spiegel in Camp Nowhere, voiced David Xanatos, Fang, Adult Alexander Fox Xanatos, and Coyote in Gargoyles, J'son in the Guardians of the Galaxy series, Vincent Callisto in Miles from Tomorrowland, and Steak Starbolt in Future-Worm!. He also directed the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. episode "The Well".

  • For a time in the 1970s, Frakes worked for Marvel Comics, appearing at conventions in costume as Captain America.
  • Although David Xanatos does bear a striking resemblance to Frakes, he was actually designed before Frakes was cast.
