Jessica Michelle Chastain is an American actress and producer, who is best known for her portrayals of women in films with feminist themes. Her accolades include a Golden Globe Award and two Academy Award nominations. She received critical acclaim for her role as Maya in the 2012 war thriller film Zero Dark Thirty, which earned her the BFCA for Best Actress, the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama, as well as an Academy Award for Best Actress nomination. She also voiced Gia in DreamWorks' Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted and portrayed the older Beverly Marsh in It: Chapter Two (2019).
For Disney, she played Celia Foote in the 2011 Touchstone Pictures film adaptation of The Help, which earned her a Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress nomination, and posed as Merida in the Disney Dream Portrait Series. She also portrayed Vuk in Fox's Dark Phoenix and Tammy Faye Bakker in The Eyes of Tammy Faye (which she also produced and won an Academy Award for Best Actress).

- Chastain was originally cast in the role of Maya Hansen in Iron Man 3,[1]but in the end, she passed the role to Rebecca Hall due to scheduling conflicts.
- She was also considered for the role of Hope Van Dyne/Wasp, but also turned down due to scheduling conflicts, and the role was ultimately given to Evangeline Lilly.[citation needed]
