Jeremy Irons (born September 19, 1948) is an English actor who voiced of Scar in The Lion King. Unlike many Disney movies, where a singer steps in to replace the voice actor or actress during a song, Irons sang the lines as Scar for "Be Prepared." This was later repeated by Mel Gibson, who was both the singing and speaking voice of John Smith in Pocahontas. His accent often led to him being cast as villainous characters like Shere Khan's original voice artists George Sanders and Tony Jay. Outside Dinsey one of his knon villain roles was as Simon Guber in Die Hard with a Vengeance.

Actually, Irons sang most of his lines for "Be Prepared," but his vocal cords strained when he did the line: "You won't get a sniff without me!," causing Jim Cummings (who also did Ed's vocal effects in the same film) to fill in as the rest of Scar's singing voice.

Irons also provided the narration for the third incarnation of Spaceship Earth at Epcot. He also provided narration for the second disc of The Lion King 2 Disc Special Platinum Edition.
