"Jake Takes the Cake" is the fifteenth episode of the Disney Channel original series American Dragon: Jake Long.
Plot[]
Jake, Grandpa, and Fu Dog are at the subway station to capture the gremlin. Fu Dog distracts him by pretending to be injured. While everybody pays attention to him, Jake and Grandpa make their move to lull the gremlin to sleep. However, Jake refuses to sing the Hubba Hubba Hula and the gremlin escapes. The subway train that Jake and the gremlin are in appeared on the street. After Jake's failure to capture the gremlin, he goes home. Later, Jake listens to music on his MP3 player when one of his mom's caterers calls on the phone.
Jake heads to the kitchen to tell his mom. While his mom and Inga talk on the phone, he overhears the conversation. He tells his mom that he can help with the wedding, but Susan declines Jake's offer, remembering what happened the last time he "helped." Susan still gives Jake a job - taking the mushroom caps out of the oven in one minute. After Jake gets his new "job," Haley comes in the kitchen. Bugged, Jake takes Haley into the living room. The gremlin dismantles the oven and goes inside the microwave before Jake appears in the kitchen. He is about to take the mushroom caps out of the oven when it goes berserk and breaks. Jake then spots something weird in the microwave. He opens the door and peeks inside to see the gremlin. Just then, Haley appears in the kitchen and asks what is wrong. As the gremlin escapes, Jake orders Haley to help him find the gremlin. After a seemingly endless amount of questions, they find the gremlin messing with the toaster. Jake and Haley dodge the loaves of bread shooting out of the toaster as the gremlin slips into the office. Jake follows the gremlin, and his parents are shocked by the mess in the kitchen. Meanwhile, Jake is in the laundry room. He is busted by his mom and dad, but he successfully captures the gremlin in a mason jar. He and his mom then head off to the ballroom to see how the reception is turning out. Jake then meets up with Fu Dog so he can give the gremlin to Grandpa while he heads off to the wedding reception with his mom.
When they get there, Jake's mom tells the caterers that the cake is too close to the karaoke machine, and Jake steps in to ask if he can help. His mom and the caterers immediately say no, and his mom tells Jake to check on the menus that were faxed over. Jake is disappointed, and heads off to check on it. His mom tries to apologize to him, but the wedding is about to start, so Jake's mom and the caterers watch the wedding on TV. Meanwhile, Jake heads off to do his "job" and is amazed to find a large number of gremlins there after opening the door. He tries to stop them, but they manage to escape. The gremlins are headed off to the reception on the rooftop, but Jake tries his very best to stop them. On TV, Thad and Jasma's wedding is still taking place. After the big disaster, everyone heads upstairs to the rooftop. Jake's mom and the caterers are ready to serve the guests. They open the door to find the place ruined, and Jake is falsely accused of causing the mess.
Jake's mom and the caterers start to clean up the mess. His mom orders him to not help or step in, but Jake is distracted by a noise on the bottom floor. When his mom is gone, he tries to find put who made the noise. It turns out to be the gremlins, off to the outskirts of New York City. Jake steps in to stop them, but when he puts them in a bag, they escape once again. The gremlins proceed to destroy every piece of machinery on Times Square. Jake needs help, so he calls Fu Dog at the shop. Grandpa tells Jake that he needs to sing the Hubba Hubba Hula to lull the gremlins to sleep. He refuses once again, until he sees Thad and Jasma on the jumbotron. They are angry at his mom and order her to never cater in NYC ever again. Jake takes action and flies to the rooftop. He lands on the stage and struggles to find the Hubba Hubba Hula on the karaoke machine. Jake then starts singing and the couple falls in love once again, relating to a moment when they first met. The two of them kiss and make their wedding official. When Jake finishes singing, his mom comes up and hugs him. Near the end of the episode, he is completely humiliated in front of his classmates while his mom is hugging him.
