"In A Day's Work" is a deleted song from the 1967 Disney film, The Jungle Book, written by Terry Gilkyson. It was to be sung by Baloo and Bagheera to Mowgli.
Lyrics[]
Baloo: When the sun comes up, unbutton those eyes
And jump right out of that bed
When the sun comes up, you should also rise
Or you're never gonna get ahead
If you love life and you like to eat
Your duties you shouldn't shirk
Get out in the world, move out in those feet
It's all in a day's work, in a day's work, in a day's work
Even this big Earth moves on its axis
And the sun gets up and shines from east to west
Each one to his job 'cause these are what the facts is
What they can do you can do a little too at best
Now the early bird who catches the worm
Can eat till he starts to burst
He can eat as much as a pachyderm
'Cause he managed to get there first
So rise with the sun, start off of the run
Where the fruits and berries all lurk
If you don't get your fill till the day is done
It's all in a day's work, in a day's work, in a day's work
(Guitar and Piano break)
Baloo: Why, even this big Earth moves on its axis
Bagheera: And the sun gets up and shines from east to west
Mowgli: Each one to his job 'cause these are what the facts is
All: What they can do you can do a little too at best
Baloo: And I don't mean rest
Mowgli: Now, the early bird who catches the worm
Can eat till he starts to burst
Bagheera: He can eat as much as a pachyderm
'Cause he managed to get there first
Baloo: So rise with the sun, start off of the run
Where the fruits and the berries all lurk
Bagheera: If you don't get your fill till the day is done
Mowgli: Remember, still you're the lucky one
Baloo: You can eat till you weigh a ton
(speaking) Oh, my poor stomach.
(singing) But it's all
All: But it's all
In a day's work, in a day's work, in a day's work
