Idrissa Akuna "Idris" Elba OBE (born September 6, 1972) is an English film, television, and theatre actor, musician, and DJ who is best known for his role as Russell "Stringer" Bell on the HBO crime drama series, The Wire (2002-2004), and currently stars as John Luther on the BBC psychological crime drama series, Luther, since 2010. He has also played Stacker Pentecost in the 2013 monster film Pacific Rim, and as Krall / Balthazar Edison in the 2016 science fiction adventure film Star Trek Beyond.

He portrayed Heimdall in the 2011 Marvel action film, Thor and reprised his role in the 2013 film Thor: The Dark World, and in the 2015 film Avengers: Age of Ultron, in the 2017 film Thor: Ragnarok, in the upcoming 2018 film Avengers: Infinity War, and in the upcoming 2019 film The Avengers 4. He also voices Shere Khan in the 2016 live-action film adaptation of The Jungle Book, and voices Chief Bogo in the 2016 film, Zootopia, and voiced Fluke in the 2016 Pixar film, Finding Dory.
