Idina Menzel (born Idina Kim Mentzel, May 30, 1971) is an American actress, broadway actress and singer-songwriter who is best known for her role as Maureen Johnson in the Broadway musical Rent, a role in which she reprised for the 2005 feature film adaptation, Elphaba in the Broadway musical Wicked and as Shelby Corcoran on the Fox musical comedy-drama series Glee.

She voiced Circe in the 1998 Disney animated television series Hercules: The Animated Series in the episode "Hercules and the Song of Circe," and played Nancy Tremaine in the 2007 Disney fantasy film Enchanted. In 2001, she played Amneris in the Broadway musical Aida though she was not the original actress to have the part. She will also voice Elsa the Snow Queen in the upcoming 2013 Disney animated film Frozen.
