In Storybrooke (after the events of "The Final Battle")
With everyone's "Happy Beginnings" now fulfilled, Henry now believes its time to actually find his. When Regina asked him why he is doing this now that he has graduated from high school but opted not to go to college, Henry tells her that as a author, he can find out about other realms and stories similar to the ones he was part of after he discovered various versions of fairy tales at the Sorcerers's mansion. As he hugged Regina, Henry hopped on August's motorcycle and left into a portal using a magic bean.
In The New Realm
As Henry arrives into a new realm, he is met with a runaway horse and carriage, throwing a female passenger in a gown into the ground. When Henry sees who the person was, he discovers its Cinderella and decided to help her. It appears she is going to see a prince but as she tries to elaborate, Henry helped back on her feet and offered her a ride, only to have Cinderella knock him out and she takes the horseless carriage to the palace, with Henry chasing her. At the same time, Lady Tremaine is at the palace, having clipped the Fairy Godmother's wings and taking her wand. Drizella arrived to see what her mother was doing, as Tremaine used the wand on the fairy and turned her into dust.
When Cinderella arrives, she's ready to confront the prince, but for a different reason; she blames him for her family's death and she wants to kill him. As Henry tries to talk her out of it, he soon passes out and learns that he drugged by Alice, who was working with Rumpelstiltskin in order to keep a eye on Henry while at the same time gave him a warning not to get involved because this isn't Henry's story, but Henry refused and still wants to help Cinderella. As Cinderella meets the prince, she suddenly pulled out a knife ready to kill him but Cinderella has a change of heart. Unfortunately Tremaine used the wand on the prince and she kills him upon learning that he turned down Drizella, so she solved the problem by framing Cinderella for the murder. As the guards closed in, Henry arrives to stop them, allowing Cinderella to escape. Henry goes after Cinderella but as he sees his phone ready to open a portal, he discovers Cinderella's glass slipper. Upon picking it up, Henry decided to stay in the realm and search for her as the portal closed in front of him.
In the Present Day
In Seattle, Henry is now making ends meet as freelance cab driver. When Lucy arrives at the man's apartment by train. Lucy tells Henry, that she is his daughter and that his family needs him, although Henry no longer remembers her. She also reminded Henry about his past as a author who helped saved his family, but he has given that part up, having seen his version of Once Upon a Time become a failure and is dealing with writers' block. The next day, Jacinda shows up late for work at Cluck's Chicken, but she quits. When she returns to her apartment, she tells her roommate about having quit her job but is stunned that Lucy has once again tricked her. At the same time a woman arrives at Belfrey Tower, as everyone awaited for their boss Victoria Belfrey. She is none too happy with Jacinda and Lucy, and now wants to take her granddaughter as she blames Jacinda for being a irresponsible mother.
Later on, Henry discovers his laptop missing and sees a note to meet at Roni's Bar. When Henry arrives, he is greeted by a mysterious woman, who is revealed to be Tilly (The alias of Alice from the New Realm), who jumped from a nearby building, then walked away. As he walked into Roni's, Henry is greeted by the owner, who happens to be Regina, but in this new version is now Roni. The two don't acknowledge each other as mother and son. Meanwhile, Jacinda finds Lucy at the well, where she tells her that she found Henry but even Jacinda doesn't believe Lucy. Jacinda then returns the laptop back to Henry and without remembering that they were a couple meet for the first time in the universe. However, Victoria has shown up, ready to buy out Roni's and to deal with Jacinda, telling her that she'll take custody of Lucy. This doesn't sit well with her step-daughter or Roni for that matter, and now Victoria is upset that Henry is involved as she warned him to stay out. When Henry went back to his car, it was missing, so he walked over to the police station and reported it stolen when the officer arrives to help find the vehicle. The officer was Hook, who now goes by Officer Rogers and has no hook hand. At another part of town, Tilly arrives to a undisclosed location to warn her boss of another person showing up in the area. The boss, who was busy placing a person's head in cold water was Mr. Gold, who is now known as Weaver.
Back at the garden, Lucy is planting seeds around the well when Jacinda arrives to take her to a place across the lake (Bainbridge Island) so they can be together, but when they arrive they see the elevator to the docks closed, and Lucy believes that like Storybrooke they're trapped. At the police station Victoria interrupted Henry and Rogers to ask the officer to help find Lucy and Jacinda. Believing that Henry knows something, Victoria and Rogers do find the two, who decided to stay. As Victoria gave Rogers the Once Upon a Time book that she took from Lucy and insisted that it be thrown away, Rogers sees a page that suddenly became familiar to him.
Later that night, Victoria returns to Roni's with a contract to have Roni sign over the place. Unfortunately, Roni changed her mind and tells Victoria that she is not selling out, having been inspired by what happened earlier when Jacinda walked in, telling Victoria that she won't be bossed by her and this is just the beginning. At the same time, Roger, who is now remembering the picture of Emma Swan, learned that he just made detective, and his new partner is Detective Weaver, both don't remember their past encounters as enemies-turned-allies, while Henry suddenly resumed his career a a author, and Jacinda returns to job at Cluck's Chicken. When Jacinda saw a quarter on the floor she took it to the garden well and threw it in, as a flower began to sprout out of the ground.
