"French Fried" is the first segment from the tenth episode of Timon & Pumbaa.
Synopsis[]
Timon and Pumbaa spy a snail and begin following it, in hopes of eating it. As soon as the duo pounce on it, a crate is built around them, and they are loaded on a boat. Timon is happy though because they are trapped with the snail. He is about to chow down, but the snail begins talking to him. Pumbaa then points out that it is hard to eat an animal that is able to speak. Timon is unbothered by this, but when the snail sings, he cannot force himself to do it. He promises Pumbaa that they will not eat the mollusk and goes on to name him Speedy (to be ironic).
The crate is placed down off the boat. Pumbaa realizes the possibility that perhaps someone else might desire to eat Speedy. Timon reassures his pal that the snail is safe, unless they are in France, where snails are a common food item. Just then, Culinary Quint opens the box, and exclaims that the snail is ideal to cook. Timon attempts to save his new friend but Quint runs off with Speedy to his restaurant at the top of the Eiffel Tower, as Timon and Pumbaa set out to rescue Speedy.
As Quint is preparing the meal, Timon and Pumbaa pretend to be Jerry Louis and run off with Speedy. After running around the dining room, they are caught and thrown into the Louvre museum where the meerkat's head goes through the Mona Lisa (making it the Ti-Mona Lisa). Their next plan involves pretending to be one person dining at the restaurant. They order a raw snail, but because Pumbaa keeps talking, Quint catches on and tosses them again into the museum, where the warthog becomes the Pumbaa di Milo.
Quint is just about to drop Speedy into his boiling stew pot, when he is charged by Timon and Pumbaa. Timon quickly snatches the snail from danger but falls into the water himself. To cool off he sits on a block of ice in the freezer but Quint locks him in. Pumbaa leads Culinary Quint in a chase around the kitchen, but goes outside. The elevator is unable to arrive at the top of the tower fast enough, and though they are inside, Quint pries the door open. Just at that moment, Timon slams a large block of ice into the chef who falls into the Louvre and is injured by a sculpture.
Back on Speedy's island home, the pals say their good-bye's but soon a bird flies down and snatches up the snail. Timon and Pumbaa rush off to save him again from being eaten.
