"Flaw and Order" is the 6th episode of the fourth season of Pepper Ann. It aired on February 8, 2000.
Synopsis[]
In a mock trial centered on the Boston Tea Party, Pepper Ann discovers that her role as a lawyer for the Sons of Liberty is significant.
Plot[]
In Mr. Finky's class, he brings up the famous Boston Tea Party wherein the Americans tossed crates of tea into the harbor due to the unfair tax. While he insists that it was the most important event in history, Pepper Ann scoffs at it as she does not think that such an event was important and that the Americans just did what was necessary. Finky decides to hold a mock trial with Pepper Ann, Milo and Gwen as the defense, Trinket, Cissy, Tessa and Vanessa as the accusers and Nicky as the judge, though she tells Pepper Ann that she will not give her special treatment.
While Trinket's team is hard at work building a case against America, Pepper Ann refuses to do any actual studying; explaining that seeing as how America exists is proof enough that they are correct. The first day of the trial Trinket's team pulls out all their evidence that is well informed and explained. Pepper Ann simply announces her love of America, but does not actually offer an argument. Trinket goes so far as to use Lydia against Pepper Ann to explain her own arrogance. Despite all this, Pepper Ann refuses to do any actual research.
The next day, Pepper Ann pulls the exact same stunt while Trinket once again gives a better informed accusation. Ultimately, the jury goes with Trinket's case, much to Pepper Ann's confusion. She lambasts the whole trial and, ironically begins giving an actual defense that causes Tessa and Vanessa and the jury to admit that Pepper Ann was ultimately correct. Mr. Finky gives her a C for her blunder. Pepper Ann admits that she was wrong to not back herself up and that she should have just explained herself at the beginning, but then begins to dramatically ramble.
