Austin Robert Butler is an American actor, singer, and model, who played Peyton Leverett in the 2011 Disney direct-to-DVD film Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure. He had also played Toby and Derek in Hannah Montana, Rutger Murdock in Zeke and Luther, George in Wizards of Waverly Place, and Stone Stevens in Jonas L.A.. In addition, he had a recurring role in the Freeform series Switched at Birth.
Butler was born on August 17, 1991, in Anaheim, California. When Butler was thirteen, he was approached by a representative from a background acting management company at the Orange County Fair who helped him get started in the entertainment industry. He began taking acting classes while attending public school until the seventh grade when he left to be home-schooled to accommodate his work schedule.
He began working as a background actor in shows, such as Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide, iCarly, Zoey 101, Out of Jimmy's Head, and Ruby & the Rockits. He later transitioned to mature roles in shows, like CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, The Carrie Diaries, Arrow, The Shannara Chronicles, and the miniseries Masters of the Air.
He also appeared in several films, such as Aliens in the Attic, The Intruders, Yoga Hosers, Dude, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and Elvis, where he received critical acclaim as the titular Elvis Presley.
Butler was in a relationship with HSM newcomer Vanessa Hudgens from 2011 to 2015 after Hudgens announced she was done dating costar Zac Efron. As of 2022, Butler is now dating Kaia Gerber.
