The Thrifty Pig is a promotional animated short of the wartime from 1941, starring the Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf.

Synopsis[]

Reused and reconfigured animation from The Three Little Pigs is used to show the advisability of buying Canadian War Bonds to support the war effort.

Fifer Pig and Fiddler Pig mock Practical Pig for working all the time and not playing. Practical, who is hard at work building his house with war bond bricks, tells the others they should do likewise to make their houses wolf-proof. The first two leave, mockingly singing "Who's afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?".

The Big Bad Wolf — sporting Nazi insignia — chases after them, and proceeds to blow down the house of straw, and then the house of sticks. The two pigs flee to Practical's house, where the wolf manages to do little more than blow off some of the paint covering the bricks, turning blue in the face from his efforts. Practical then demonstrates another use for the bond bricks, hurling them at the wolf to send him packing as he wails in pain. The film concludes with a promotion for buying war bonds.
