7 Dwarves: The Forest Is Not Enough[]

  • While a parody of the fairy tale Rumpelstiltskin, the characters from the first film that spoof Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs are also present in the sequel and also the song "Hey Zwerge" is sung by the title characters.

7 Dwarves – Men Alone in the Wood[]

  • While the film is a parody of the Grimm fairy tale Snow White, it also contains parodies of the 1937 Disney adaptation. The dwarf march with the famous song "Heigh-Ho" is parodied with the song "Hey Zwerge" ("Hey Dwarfs"). Also, some of the dwarfs are parodies of the Disney versions. The characters Sunny and Cloudy, who act as a comedic duo, can be considered parodies of Happy and Grumpy, while Bubi spoofs Dopey and Brummboss, the leader of the dwarves is a parody of Doc, while his name is parody of the German name of Grumpy (Brummbär). The Mirror on the Wall, played by comedian Rüdiger Hoffmann, is also a parody of the Disney version.
  • The scene when the dwarves are on their way to rescue Snow White is a spoof of the famous "Slow-mo" Astronaut scene of Armageddon, where they are on their way to the spaceships.

  • Arthur Curry claims he only saw the movie version of Pinocchio while holding a book Mera receives from a girl when in Sicily due to having saved both of them earlier from Orm by having them swallowed by a whale through aquatic telepathy.

Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra[]

  • In one scene, General Chorus is seen from behind in a dark helmet and black cloak reminiscent of the character of Darth Vader from the Star Wars franchise. This scene is further enhanced by the fact that the original science fiction soundtrack, "Imperial March", plays during this scene. The allusion is perfected when he announces the attack of the Roman Empire with the words "if the Empire is attacked, the Empire strikes back".

Asterix at the Olympic Games[]

  • The animated opening sequence directly parodies the ending of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: The prince kisses what he presumes to be an enchanted princess (Joy Miller), which breaks the "Sleeping Death" spell, but however she outright rejects his affections, refusing to get married so shortly after getting kissed by him because she's "too young to get married", poking fun at the fact that Snow White herself was 14 years old at the events of the original film, which is considered underaged for marriage in recent years. In addition, in that same scene once Joy wakes up after being kissed by the prince, she at first mistakes the prince for one of the dwarfs.

Beware the Slenderman[]

  • Morgan watches footage from Bambi (specifically the scene at which Bambi runs away to then find out his mother has been shot) and quotes "Run Bambi, run! Get out of there".

  • When Lucille (who is a hospital receptionist) explains to Emily Elizabeth Howard, her uncle Casey Porter, and her best friend Owen Yu that Mr. Birdwell is "more of the there-when-you-need-him type of guy", Owen then asks "What do you do, say his name three times and rub a lamp?", the latter part which may be a reference to the Genie from Aladdin.

Close Encounters of the Third Kind[]

  • The film's score has multiple references to "When You Wish Upon a Star". Additionally, a toy can also be heard playing the song's melody right before Roy Neary rips off the top of his sculpture. Also, Roy tells his children "Hey, you know what's playing tonight? Pinocchio! You guys have never seen Pinocchio, you're in luck!" Brad disagrees to watch it, asking "Aw, who wants to see some dumb cartoon rated 'G' for kids?" Roy then tells him that he is going to see Pinocchio tomorrow night after asking about his age and if he wants to be nine years old. When Ronnie says that "is a terrific way to win over your children," Roy replies "I'm not serious, I'm just saying that I grew up with Pinocchio, and if kids are still kids, they're going to eat it up." Later, he tells the children "Okay, let's have a vote. Tomorrow night you can play Goofy golf, which is a lot of standing in line and shoving and pushing, and probably getting a 'zero', or you can see Pinocchio, which is a lot of furry animals and magic, and you'll have a wonderful time." The children all vote for golf.

  • In the scene where Alan Parish opens the attic door & sees that the coast is clear & while he along with Sarah & Judy quietly followed, Peter as a monkey closed the attic door & the loud closing sound startled Alan, Sarah & Judy. Just like in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs when the 7 dwarfs entered the front door of their cottage home & Dopey closed the door loudly & the other 6 dwarfs got startled.

Jurassic Park[]

  • The character John Hammond (the founder of Jurassic Park) is reminiscent of Walt Disney, and his park Disneyland. Even both director Steven Spielberg and Jurassic Park author Michael Crichton describe the character as "the dark side of Walt Disney."
  • Hammond notes that all major theme parks have delays and that nothing worked, when Disneyland opened in 1956. To which Ian Malcolm replies: "Yeah, but, John, if the Pirates of the Caribbean breaks down, the pirates don't eat the tourists".

  • At several points in Spaceballs, the massive merchandising of Star Wars is parodied in a very direct way. For example, Yogurt tells Lone Starr that he is exclusively on the desert planet in order to run a merchandising shop in his underground hiding place, which only sells Spaceballs products. In this way, the merchandising becomes the basis for the entire plot of the film.
  • After he and the others were recovered from the heat of the desert moon of Vega by the Dinks, Lone Starr asked "When did we get to Disneyland?".

  • While encountering the Dragon, Horror helps Fantasy release the Magic Carpet from the Arabian Nights pages in order to save Richard Tyler from the Dragon. It should be noted that this film was released two years after Disney's Aladdin was released.
  • While figuring out how to escape from the Dragon's stomach, Richard Tyler opens up a book entitled Alice in Wonderland and the Queen of Hearts pops out shouting "Off with his head!".

  • The "Stream of Precious Gems" log flume ride in the Sinbad the Sailor story is a parody of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" ride at the Disney theme parks, including the sudden drop and a soundalike song.

  • When Snowball says he was the pet of a magician that used to pull him out of a hat, before such acts lost popularity; this is a reference to the short Presto. He also looks a lot like Alec Azam from the said short.

  • Cinderella and Snow White are among the choices for brides by the Magic Mirror. In addition, Lord Farquaad's request to find out whether Duloc is "the most perfect kingdom" to the Magic Mirror was clearly a reference to the Wicked Queen's request to find out who the fairest one of all is.
  • Farquad himself is likely a reference to Michael Eisner.
  • Fiona singing with the bird the morning after her rescue was a clear reference to Snow White and Aurora singing with the birds (save for the fact that she caused the bird to explode when making a high note).
  • The room Fiona was "sleeping" inside was a clear reference to the room Aurora was sleeping in in Sleeping Beauty.
  • The entrance to Duloc has an animatronic welcome greeting is based on It's a Small World.
  • Fiona's "transformation" after being kissed was a clear reference to the Beast's regaining of his human form in the ending of Beauty and the Beast.

  • In the opening scene of Shrek and Fiona's honeymoon, a scene parodying From Here to Eternity has a wave covering them and pulls back to reveal Shrek kissing a mermaid that looks a lot like Ariel from The Little Mermaid.   • When the Fairy Godmother goes through various fairy tale books to prove to Shrek that "ogres don't live happily ever after", one of the books she goes through is Pretty Woman.

  • Sir Rothbart's backstory is similar to that of Ursula's, as both villains got banished from their respective kingdoms, due to using black magic and aim to take over the kingdoms they got banished from.
  • Bromley is very similar to that of LeFou from Beauty and the Beast and it can be noted that he has a heavy cockney accent reminiscent to that of Jasper and Horace from One Hundred and One Dalmatians, though no sources confirmed this.
  • Jean-Bob has a heavy French accent reminiscent to that of Lumiere from Beauty and the Beast.
  • Though no sources confirm this, it can also be noted that Lieutenant Puffin has a mixed accent between Irish and Scottish reminiscent to that of Jock from Lady and the Tramp.
  • The scene where two alligators Jean-Bob is very similar to Brutus and Nero attacking Bernard and Miss Bianca in The Rescuers.
  • The scenes where Bridget is disguised as Odette is very similar to how Ursula is disguised as her alter-ego Vanessa in The Little Mermaid. Though that specific plot element was already present in the original Swan Lake ballet, this might just be coincidental, however.

Thumbelina[]

  • Jacquimo's character is similar to that of Jiminy Cricket from Pinocchio, albeit with the "birdbrains" of Scuttle from The Little Mermaid, and the thick French accent reminiscent of Lumiere from Beauty and the Beast.
  • Jacquimo's introduction song into the film is similar to that to the introduction song "When You Wish Upon a Star" of Pinocchio, including the classic "book opening" sequence from various Disney movies produced during Walt Disney's lifetime.
  • The film's main protagonist, Thumbelina, shares the same red hair and voice as Ariel from The Little Mermaid (co-incidentally both female leads are voiced by Jodi Benson), and has the same "reactive" character traits of the earliest Disney Princesses, most notably Snow White and Aurora. In addition, Thumbelina has a flat characterization of having no personality aside from wanting to be with her true love similar to Aurora.
  • Thumbelina was born fully grown and with clothing on, similar to how Pinocchio was born in Pinocchio.
  • Hero the dog bears a striking resemblance to Pluto but with a mustache.
  • The opening song "Thumbelina" is reminiscent to the song "Belle" from Beauty and the Beast.
  • Prince Cornelius is attracted to Thumbelina's beautiful slinging voice, similar to how Prince Phillip is attracted to Aurora's beautiful singing voice in Sleeping Beauty. Just like in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Sleeping Beauty, Cornelius and Thumbelina's first encounter is very similar in the sense that the female lead gets frightened at first once approached by the prince, only to be completely swooned off her feet by the prince. In addition, the way Cornelius breaks in into Thumbelina's home is similar to that of Peter Pan's.
  • The entire sequence where Prince Cornelius and Thumbelina go exploring on a bee ride around the garden while singing the romantic duet "Let Me Be Your Wings" is very similar to that of "A Whole New World" from Aladdin.
  • The film's main antagonist, Grundel Toad, is a dimwitted, Mexican version of Gaston from Beauty and the Beast, and his romantic obsession towards Thumbelina is reminiscent to that to Gaston's romantic obsession towards Belle.
  • Thumbelina encounters the Jitterbugs in the same way Snow White first encounters the forest animals in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
  • When Grundel Toad and Berkeley Beetle team up to find Thumbelina, their relationship is similar to that of Jafar and Iago from Aladdin (co-incidentally, Gilbert Gottfried, Iago's voice actor, also provided the voice of Berkeley Beetle in this film).
