The Mark I Monorail was the first monorail train model used on Disneyland's Disneyland-ALWEG Monorail System, used from 1959 to 1961. The Mark I trains featured a space-age design with a "bubble" dome on the top of the front and rear cars. There were two three-car trains: Red and Blue. The Mark I trains were replaced in 1961 by three Mark II trains, which consisted of four cars each to accommodate more guests, as the monorail line had been extended to the Disneyland Hotel. The Mark II and Mark III trains highly resembled the Mark I trains however, and the design of the 2008 Mark VII trains were heavily influenced by the Mark I.
