Road Rally is the fourth Mickey Mouse Clubhouse special. It premiered on September 7, 2010. It is the seventy-sixth episode in the series, and the ninth episode in the third season.

Synopsis[]

Mickey and his pals participate in a road rally that takes them across sandy deserts, over snow-covered mountains, and through lush jungles. It's all going on, but there is a problem Toodles is dealing with. When he thinks that no one needs his help anymore due to Goofy's brand new vehicle, the Clubhouse Rescue Truck, getting all the praise for helping out, Toodles leaves the Rally. Will he learn that his friends still like him and need him when things get problematic?

Plot[]

The Silly Switch[]

Mickey welcomes the viewers to the Clubhouse. Shortly after, Goofy and Pluto arrive wondering what fun activity they will be doing today. On cue, the Silly Switch is heard and Mickey goes over to it and pulls it. The sound of a car engine is heard and a Handy Helper rises from the ground holding three flags. Mickey sees that these are racing flags and describes their purpose. The green flag means the race starts or resumes following an obstacle being cleared. The red flag means that there is an obstacle on the race track and the race stops until it is removed. Finally, the checkered flag is the flag that signals that the race is over.

All this talk about racing gives Mickey the idea to hold the first ever Clubhouse Road Rally. Goofy asks what a Road Rally is and Mickey explains that it's a fun race where everyone rides their favorite wheeled-vehicle and everyone is a winner. Goofy decides to ride his bicycle for the Road Rally and Mickey invites the viewers to join the Road Rally with everyone.

The Mouseketools[]

Mickey heads to the Mousekedoer to get today's Mouseketools. Toodles enters the Mousekedoer and is given four Mouseketools: a giant toolbox, a tire pump, a car seat, and the Mystery Mouseketool.

Introducing the Racers[]

With the Mouseketools obtained, Goofy, Pluto, and Mickey head out to the starting line. Clarabelle is shown up in the Glove Balloon as the Road Rally's MC. Upon welcoming the viewers to the rally, she introduces the racers. Mickey is the first racer introduced and is shown driving the Toon Car. Up next is Donald Duck driving the Clubhouse Train Engine. Minnie is third in the race riding a bicycle and Daisy follows her on roller skates. Chip and Dale are next in the rally riding a kick scooter, Chip moving the handlebars while Dale pushes the scooter to make it move. Pluto is right behind the two riding a skateboard. The next racer is described as a special friend and is revealed to be Toodles using his tricycle function. Finally, Pete shows up riding an electric scooter and is eager to be the winner as he is "the fastest racer ever!" Clarabelle tells Pete that the Road Rally is all about good sportsmanship and fun but Pete just ignores Clarabelle. Clarabelle is about to start the Rally when she realizes that one racer is missing...Goofy!

The Clubhouse Rescue Truck[]

Goofy is shown looking for his bicycle for the Road Rally. Minnie suggests the Shoe Garage Basement, the one place Goofy hadn't checked yet. Goofy opens the Shoe Garage Basement and Professor Ludwig Von Drake is revealed inside. The Professor states that he is working on something big when Goofy asks if the Professor saw his bike anywhere in the garage. The Professor goes in to check and after a few comedic sounds, Professor Von Drake comes out with Goofy's bike. Unfortunately, Goofy's bike is un-rideable as Goofy tried to fix his bike the other day only to do just the opposite. This leaves Goofy without anything to ride for the Road Rally. Luckily, the Professor's latest project is just what Goofy can ride around in for the Road Rally. The Professor goes back into the garage and reveals his latest invention...the Clubhouse Rescue Truck! The Professor grants Goofy permission to use the vehicle in the Road Rally on the condition that whenever someone needs help or rescuing, Goofy will use the Rescue Truck to provide that needed help. Goofy comments that he'll be a helper just like Toodles and Toodles agrees with him.

The Road Rally Map[]

Now that Goofy has a vehicle, Clarabelle calls the racers back to the starting line and shows everyone the map where the Road Rally will be taking place. There are five landmarks that the racers will be driving through; Mickey Park, the Desert, Mistletoe Mountain, the Jungle, and finally the Clubhouse. Pete is eager to win the race, but quickly retracts his statement by stating that he has a race to finish. Clarabelle, skeptically, agrees, and tells the racers one more thing: at each of the landmarks, there will be a Mickey Marker near by. Push the marker, and that someone will receive a special surprise. Pete is intrigued even further upon hearing the twist. Clarabelle then states that the first Mickey Marker at Mickey Park is to be found somewhere on or near a triangle bush.

The Rally Begins[]

With the wave of the green flag, the Road Rally is underway. Everyone starts singing "Rock 'n Ride 'n Rally" as they drive to Mickey Park. Pete zooms past everyone and takes an unnecessary lead due to his impulse to win first. Pete is soon stopped by a gigantic pile of rubber duckies but is unfazed by the obstacle. Pete goes around the pile only to accidentally, and unbeknownst to him, knock a rubber ducky loose from the pile and causes the entire thing to collapse. Pete makes it to Mickey Park and resumes racing.

Rubber Ducky Blockage[]

The rest of the racers soon are stopped by a red flag warning them about the mess of rubber duckies. The race comes to a temporary stop due to the rubber duckies blocking the path. Minnie decides that they need a Mouseketool to solve the rubber ducky problem and everyone calls for Toodles. But before Toodles could show anyone the Mouseketools, Goofy stops him and suggest trying the Rescue Truck in solving the problem instead. Reluctantly, Toodles agrees to this.

Goofy tries to think of a way to move the rubber duckies out of the path only to accidentally spray Donald with a hose when pressing a button. Goofy pushes another button that activates a Handy Helper with a broom. Goofy decides to use the broom to sweep the rubber duckies out of the way and the truck does that (along with splashing Donald with a puddle of water from the hose as it drives by). With the path cleared, everyone praises the Rescue Truck for solving the problem. Everyone, that is, except Toodles; who is a little upset over the truck being chosen to solve the problem over him. Daisy reassures Toodles that he can help out the next time there is a problem and Toodles cheers up.

The First Mouseketool[]

Even though the rubber duckies are no longer in the path of the race, they are now littering the park. Which means that they need something to put the rubber duckies into so the park isn't cluttered up by them. Toodles immediately volunteers to help and everyone calls for him. Toodles shows everyone the Mouseketools he has: the giant toolbox, the tire pump, the car seat, and the Mystery Mouseketool. Needing something that can hold a lot of rubber duckies, and the giant toolbox is able to hold a lot of things, they choose the toolbox. The giant toolbox is able to hold every single rubber ducky and both the path and car are cleared. Minnie thanks Toodles and the viewers for their help and the race is ready to resume. But before heading into the park, Clarabelle reminds everyone, to find the first Mickey Marker, look for a triangle bush. Everyone resumes the race while Toodles switches to his space rover transformation before continuing the race.

Searching for the Triangle Bush[]

Back with Pete, Pete is shown getting overconfident over his lead and decides to take a quick nap before resuming the race. The other Road Rally Racers find a bunch of shape bushes but do not see one shaped like a triangle. Mickey asks for help from the viewers by looking for a shape with three sides. The viewers find one next to Mickey and, to make sure that it is a triangle, counts the sides of the shape. The bush has three sides and it's the triangle bush they were told to look for!

Donald's Mickey Marker[]

A Mickey Marker appears right in the middle of the triangle bush and Donald pushes it. Fireworks launch out and a balloon with Donald's picture on it flies into the air. Pete then catches up to the rest of the racers, rested up and ready to find the triangle bush. Minnie tells Pete that they already found the bush and the surprise that came with it. Pete is upset over missing the surprise and is determined to not miss the next one due to him being the fastest racer out of everyone here.

Next Stop: The Desert[]

Clarabelle shows up in the Glove Balloon and reminds Pete that the Road Rally isn't about being fast. She then shows the Road Rally Racers the map and the second location to go to: the desert. Then Clarabelle tells everyone to find a sandcastle with four towers in order to locate the second Mickey Marker. With the wave of the green flag, the race continues. Pete speeds ahead and quickly comes across a fork in the road. One path goes to the desert while the other goes to Mickey Lake. Believing that he is far ahead enough, Pete decides to do some Gooey Fish fishing and still have time to find the sandcastle with four towers. Unbeknownst to Pete, just as he takes the other road, Donald leads the other racers down the road leading to the desert.

The Disappearing Road[]

Mickey and Donald lead everyone into the desert but a red flag is shown being waved and the road disappearing underneath sand. Mickey stops everyone and Minnie sees that the wind has blown sand on the road. If they cannot see the road, they won't know which way to go and where to find the sandcastle. Goofy volunteers to use the Rescue Truck to fix the problem, but Mickey wants to give Toodles a chance before using the Rescue Truck.

The Second Mouseketool[]

Everyone calls for Toodles and Toodles shows everyone the remaining Mouseketools he has:, the tire pump, the car seat, and the Mystery Mouseketool. Since wind blew the sand on the road, something needs to blow the sand off the road. Daisy, Chip, and Dale decides to choose the tire pump as it blows air and can be used to clear the sand off the road. With the tire pump chosen, Donald, Chip, and Dale use it to blow all the sand off the road.

Mickey thanks the viewers for their help and then thanks Toodles for his help as well. Minnie is happy that Toodles is able to help and Toodles thanks Minnie for having confidence in him.

Stuck in the Sand[]

With the road cleared, everyone continues through the desert in search of the sandcastle with four towers. Everyone follows Mickey up a tall hill and they zoom down it at a fast speed. This leads to everyone except Toodles and Goofy going off road and getting stuck in a sand dune. Toodles heads to everyone and states that he can help everyone get out of the sand, only for Goofy to come over in the Rescue Truck and rescue everyone using the Rescue Truck's treadwheels and Handy Helper features. Goofy sings as he rescues everyone and frees their vehicles. The racers cheer for the Rescue Truck and return to the race and the search for the sandcastle with four towers. Goofy sets the Rescue Truck back to it's normal mode when he notices a despondent Toodles next to him. Toodles tells Goofy that he wanted to help out too. Goofy reassures Toodles that he can help out the next time there's a problem. Toodles cheers up and he and Goofy head back on the road to join the others in the search.

Meanwhile, Pete has returned to the race without a single gooey fish caught and realizes that he needs to catch up with the others. Pete soon drives up the hill, speeds down it, and winds up stuck in the same sand dune as Mickey, Donald, Chip and Dale, Minnie, Daisy, and Pluto were in moments before. Without anyone to help him out of the sand, Pete has no choice but to dig himself out in order to continue the rally.

The Sandcastles[]

Back with the others, Daisy finds four sandcastles and asks the viewers for help in finding the sandcastle with four towers. Daisy finds a sandcastle with three towers, which is not the sandcastle they are looking for. Daisy asks the viewers which sandcastle has four towers. The viewers find it and, after double checking that it has four towers, the Mickey Marker appears on the sandcastle's door.

Daisy's Mickey Marker[]

Daisy pushes the Mickey Marker on the sandcastle. Fireworks launch out and a balloon with Daisy's picture on it flies into the air. Pete then catches up to the rest of the racers, having managed to dig himself out of the sand dune, and ready to find the sandcastle only to learn that everyone else already found the sandcastle and the surprise that came with it. Pete is upset over missing the surprise again but reassures everyone that he will not miss the next one due to him being the fastest racer ever despite Goofy telling Pete that being fast isn't the best thing.

3rd Stop: Mistletoe Mountain[]

Clarabelle flies over the Road Rally Racers and shows them the map. Their next location is Mistletoe Mountain; to find Mickey Marker number three, they need to find a snowman that looks like Mickey. Mickey is surprised to hear something so original while Donald is frustrated that Mickey's being the center of attention. Clarabelle waves the green flag and Pete speeds ahead of everyone as they make their way to Mistletoe Mountain.

As he drives up Mistletoe Mountain, Pete is, once again, confident about his lead and decides to look for the Snow Mickey later due to his lead. Pete then, unknowingly, passes three giant Snow Mickeys and drives up to the top of Mistletoe Mountain. Deciding to have a little fun before finding the Snow Mickey, Pete beings building a Snow Pete.

The Snow Mickey[]

Further down on the mountain, Goofy and the rest of the racers reach the Snow Mickeys. But finding the correct Snow Mickey is proven to be a challenge as Goofy finds a Snow Mickey that isn't quite right. The Snow Mickey Goofy found has three ears while the real Mickey only has two ears. With the help from the audience, the correct Snow Mickey is found and so is the 3rd Mickey Marker.

A Boost Up[]

The 3rd Mickey Marker appears on the nose of the Snow Mickey and Chip and Dale ask if they can be the ones to push the Mickey Marker. Mickey says they can but the Mickey Marker is too high for them to reach. Goofy decides to use the Rescue Truck to lend Chip and Dale a hand and drives over to them. Unbeknownst to everyone else, Toodles gets jealous over the Rescue Truck doing his job again. Chip and Dale strap into the Rescue Truck and Goofy gives the two chipmunks the boost up to the Mickey Marker.

Chip and Dale's Mickey Marker[]

Chip and Dale push the Mickey Marker at the same time and, along with fireworks being launched into the air, two balloons float up from behind the Snow Mickey; one with Chip's face and the other with Dale's face. Goofy praises their button pushing and Chip and Dale thank Goofy and the Rescue Truck for helping them out. Everyone else sans Toodles praise the Rescue Truck as well. Toodles, more upset then previously, states that he could've helped Chip and Dale too. Minnie tells Toodles that she knows he could've helped and states that he could help the next time there is a problem. Unlike the previous times, Toodles has a harder time believing that he could help out but agrees with hesitation.

The Third Mouseketool[]

Chip and Dale slide down the Snow Mickey but the angle of one of the arms launches the two into the air. Needing something to catch Chip and Dale right away, everyone calls for Toodles for a Mouseketool. Toodles perks up and shows the everyone the Mouseketools he has left. The only Mouseketools left are the car seat and the Mystery Mouseketool. Since the car seat is soft and comfy, they decide to use the car seat to catch Chip and Dale. Minnie hold up the car seat and successfully uses it to catch Chip and Dale. Minnie praises Toodles for his help.

Toodles Leaves the Rally[]

Right after they use the car seat to rescue Chip and Dale, the snowball Pete was using to make his Snow-Pete starts rolling down the hill towards the rest of the racers. Goofy takes action with the Rescue Truck and uses a tennis racket feature to hit the snowball far away from everyone. Everyone celebrates the Rescue Truck again while Toodles expects to be thanked for his help in rescuing Chip and Dale. Everyone heads over to the Rescue Truck, completely ignoring Toodles, and leaving the tool distributor all alone. Heartbroken and believing everyone has forgotten him due to the praise the Rescue Truck is getting, Toodles leaves the Road Rally without anyone noticing.

4th Stop: The Jungle[]

Pete is happy that Goofy was able to use the Rescue Truck to save the day and thanks him for his help. Clarabelle shows up in the Glove Balloon and shows everyone the next location on the map: the jungle. To find the fourth Mickey Marker, they need to find the Golden Coconut. Pete immediately takes off with the rest of the racers (sans Toodles) drive along to the jungle.

Broken Bridge[]

Pete makes his way to the jungle and drives across an old bridge. Pete makes it across successfully but the weight from Pete's scooter causes all the boards on the bridge to break as he drives on them. Pete sees the damage he accidentally caused but is unfazed and believes that this will make him the only finisher of the Road Rally and continues into the jungle to find the Golden Coconut.

Toodles is Missing![]

The rest of the racers arrive at the broken bridge and realize that there is no way to cross the canyon. Mickey decides that they need a Mouseketool if they are going to cross the canyon and he and the others call for Toodles. Upon realizing that Toodles didn't answer their call, everyone realizes that Toodles isn't with them and wonders where he is. Everyone tries calling for Toodles again but to no avail. Thinking that Toodles went ahead of them, Daisy realizes that they need to come up with a way to cross the canyon without Toodles' help. Fortunately, Goofy and the Rescue Truck end up being the solution. With the push of a button, the Rescue Truck's helicopter mode is activated and, with the help of some built-in Handy Helpers, Goofy uses the Rescue Truck to pick everyone up and fly them across the canyon. Everyone praises the Rescue Truck whole Goofy modestly says it was no problem.

Donald is ready to continue the Rally but remembers that Toodles is still missing and doesn't want to continue without him. Everyone worries for their friend and questions his whereabouts and what he could be up to. Minnie remembers that Toodles was upset every time the Rescue Truck took over to help with a problem and comes to the conclusion that Toodles probably thinks that they do not need him anymore and has run off because of it. Everyone realizes that Minnie's right and decides to put off the search for the Golden Coconut in favor of finding Toodles. Goofy, not wanting his friends to miss out on the rest of the Road Rally and is driving the Rescue Truck, decides to search for Toodles alone while everyone else continues the Rally. Everyone wishes Goofy good luck and resume the drive into the jungle and the hunt for the Golden Coconut.

The Golden Coconut[]

In the jungle, Pete has arrived first and has founded the Golden Coconut. Pete tries to reach for it only to cause all of the coconuts on the tree to fall down and Pete getting caught inside the leaves of the tree.

Minnie's Mickey Marker[]

Mickey, Minnie, and Donald notice all the coconuts rolling by and Minnie finds the Golden Coconut in a bush. The Mickey Marker appears on the Golden Coconut and Minnie pushes it. Fireworks launch out and a balloon with Minnie's picture on it flies into the air. Pete comes out from the tree and offers to help find the Golden Coconut only for Minnie to reveal that they already found it and what the special surprise was. Frustrated over missing the special surprise again, Pete vows to not miss the fifth and final one.

Pete's Waterfall Dilemma[]

Clarabelle shows up in the Glove Balloon and refreshes Pete's memory on where the final Mickey Marker is located...the Clubhouse! Pete gets back on his motor scooter and starts driving to the Clubhouse, only to hit something offscreen and wind up stuck on log floating down the river. To make matters worse, Pete is now heading straight for huge waterfall! Everyone else runs after Pete to try and rescue him but realizes that they need Toodles help! Everyone calls for Toodles, but he doesn't show up. Minnie realizes that Toodles is still missing; Daisy decides that they should call for Goofy to see if he has found Toodles or could help out. Everyone calls for Goofy but Goofy doesn't show up either. Where could Goofy and Toodles be?

Searching for Toodles[]

In the middle of the jungle, Toodles is shown sitting on a stump extremely upset over seemingly being forgotten by his friends and no longer needed to help out. Fortunately, Toodles snaps out of his sadness upon hearing Goofy call for him and realizes that his friends haven't forgotten him after all! Goofy is shown continuing his search for Toodles when Toodles shows up. Goofy explains that everyone was really worried about Toodles after Toodles disappeared. Goofy tells Toodles about the problem they had earlier and how they called for Toodles. When Toodles didn't come, they realized that something was wrong as Toodles never fails to show up when others are in need. Toodles, although happy to hear that his friends still cared for him, is unsure about his role now that the Rescue Truck is in the picture. Goofy reassures that while the Rescue Truck is fun and useful in certain situations, Toodles is capable of thing that no one, not even the Rescue Truck itself, can do! Toodles, with his confidence restored upon realizing that Goofy's right, is happy that he still has a role in helping his friends in times of trouble.

Speaking of times of trouble, Toodles and Goofy hear their friends calling for them to rescue Pete. Toodles, ready to help again, is eager to do so. Working together, Goofy activates the Rescue Truck's helicopter mode to fly to the disaster while Toodles activates his jetpack mode to get there fast. The two take off ready to rescue Pete!

Rescuing Pete[]

Back at the waterfall, Pete is struggling to remain afloat but is getting closer to the edge of the waterfall. In the nick of time, Goofy and Toodles arrive to rescue Pete. Goofy activates the Rescue Truck's floatation function and tries to use the line with a Handy Helper at the end to grab Pete. Unfortunately, Pete is being carried by the waterfall too quickly and Goofy can't get close enough! Knowing that he's the only one who can help, Toodles gears up with his goggles and snorkel and dives into the water to rescue Pete. After a few failed attempts, Toodles manages to grab Pete and fly him out of the water with all his strength while Goofy helps Toodles bring Pete to shore, saving him just in time!

Apologizing to Toodles[]

Pete thanks Goofy and Toodles for rescuing him and the two are glad to be of assistance. Toodles rejoins everyone else and they all apologize for hurting his feeling and making him believe that they didn't need him. Mickey adds that Toodles is the best mechanical pal anyone could ever have and that he'll always be their friend no matter what. Toodles accepts their apology and states that everyone, the viewers included, are the best.

Pete, finally realizing that being fast isn't everything, apologizes for his behavior and laments missing out on all the fun. To make matters worse, Pete lost his scooter when he was in the river and now can't finish the Rally.

The Final Mouseketool[]

Luckily for Pete, Toodles is there with one last Mouseketool. Toodles has his friends summon him and shows everyone that the only tool left is the Mystery Mouseketool. Today, the Mystery Mouseketool is a tricycle, just what Pete needs to ride and finish the Rally with! Pete is happy that he can enjoy the rest of the Rally with all his pals. With all problems resolved, the racers head back to the Clubhouse with Pete letting Minnie and Daisy go ahead of him while he takes his own time riding behind them.

Back to the Clubhouse[]

Everyone reaches the finish line back at the Clubhouse and Clarabelle guides everyone to the final Mickey Marker on the door of the Clubhouse.

The Final Mickey Marker[]

Pete is the last to arrive. Feeling bad that Pete missed out on the other Mickey Marker surprises, Mickey asks Pete to push the Mickey Marker. Pete is happy to do so and the final surprise are balloons with everyone's faces on them! Toodles tries to look for his picture on the balloon but fails to find it and gets upset over the thought of his friends forgetting him again.

Toodles' Surprise[]

Luckily, Toodles gets an extra special surprise as a giant balloon shaped like him floats up with all the other balloons. Toodles is happy with the surprise but Professor Von Drake has one more surprise for him. Professor Von Drake then reveals a special in the front of the Rescue Truck for Toodles to ride in. Toodles gets in and is happy to know how much his friends care for him.

I'm a Friend, You're a Friend[]

Mickey tells Toodles that friends help each other and since Toodles helps out everyone everyday, he's the best friend anyone can ask for! Everyone sings "I'm a Friend, You're a Friend". Upon the song's conclusion Mickey and Goofy thank the viewers for all their help today and Toodles thanks the viewers for letting him help them. Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Minnie, Pluto, Daisy, and Toodles head back into the Clubhouse and do the Hot Dog Dance with Mickey thanking the viewers once more for all their help today. Upon finishing the Hot Dog Dance and leaving the Clubhouse, the Clubhouse disappears and Mickey and Toodles say goodbye to the viewers.
