King of the Elves was a film set to be released by Walt Disney Animation Studios. Based on a story by Philip K. Dick, the film was originally set to be directed by Aaron Blaise and Robert Walker, and produced by John Lasseter and Chuck Williams.
Originally slated for release in 2012, the film was reported as shelved in December 2009. In July, 2010, it was reported by various sources that King of The Elves is back in development and it is being directed by Chris Williams, co-director of Bolt. It was later reported that the production was doing so well that it rivaled Frozen for a 2013 release date. Production eventually stalled due to story problems, and director Chris Williams started helping other current film projects on the side.
Premise[]
Based on Philip K. Dick's 1953 short story fantasy "The King of the Elves", the film is about a band of elves and one dwarf living in the modern-day Mississippi Delta who name a local human, Calder, their king after he helps save them from an evil troll.
Dick is best known for writing the short stories that Blade Runner (Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?) and Total Recall (We Can Remember It for You Wholesale) were based on.

In April 2008, Walt Disney Animation Studios announced a 3D animated feature film adaptation, titled King of the Elves. The film was originally to have been directed by Aaron Blaise and Robert Walker (directors of Brother Bear), and produced by Chuck Williams. And it was scheduled for a release in 2012. In December 2009, the film was reported as shelved.[1] In July 2010, King of the Elves had gone back into development and it was being directed by Chris Williams, director of Bolt.[2] In September 2016, he decided that this was not the film he wanted to make and left the project.[3]
