John Forsythe was an American actor, who had spanned over four decades and three genres on television. For Disney, he narrated "Disney's Oscar Winners" for Disney's Wonderful World, cohosted the 1985 TV special Disneyland's 30th Anniversary Celebration with Drew Barrymore, made an appearance in the 1989 special The Disney-MGM Studios Theme Park Grand Opening, and voiced Pat Doyle in Gargoyles: The Goliath Chronicles.

Born in New Jersey, Forsythe was raised in the Jewish faith and grew up in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After a series of different jobs, he became a bit player for films before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force. Durim that time, he appeared in Broadway play Winged Victory. In 1947, Forsythe joined the Actors Studio and appeared in stage productions of Mister Roberts and The Teahouse of the August Moon.

By the 1950s, Forsythe began appearing in films, such as The Trouble with Harry, Topaz, The Captive City, The Glass Web, The Ambassador's Daughter, Madame X, In Cold Blood, and Scrooged. However, he was best known for his television roles as Bentley Gregg in the sitcom Bachelor Father from 1957 to 1962, the voice of Charles "Charlie" Townsend in the ABC crime drama series Charlie's Angels from 1976 to 1981 and as Blake Carrington in the ABC soap opera Dynasty from 1981 to 1989.

Forsythe retired from acting in 2006, but still remained an active community member at his home in Solvang, CA. He died of pneumonia on April 1, 2010.
