"In the Middle of the River" is a deleted song from the film, Pocahontas. John Smith and Pocahontas need to find a place where they can be alone. Pocahontas then quotes her mother "Whenever there is anger and hatred on both sides of the river, you can always find a place of peace in the middle of the river." The words "Lathuso Utatia Norwottuck" means "We will meet in the middle of the river" in Native American.
In an interview video "The Music of Pocahontas", composer Alan Menken and lyricist Stephen Schwartz whose name is not to be confused with the one on Parachute Express sing this a demo version together.
