Sir Daniel Michael Blake Day-Lewis is an English actor, who holds both British and Irish citizenship. Born and raised in London, he excelled on stage at the National Youth Theatre, before being accepted at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, which he attended for three years. For 20th Century Studios, he portrayed Nathaniel "Hawkeye" Poe in the 1992 film The Last of the Mohicans and John Proctor in the 1996 film The Crucible.

For Disney, he portrayed Abraham Lincoln in Lincoln (winning numerous awards for his performance, including a Golden Globe and an Oscar), Christy Brown in My Left Foot, Dr. Fergus O'Connell in Eversmile, New Jersey, Daniel Plainview in There Will Be Blood, and William "Bill the Butcher" Cutting in Gangs of New York.
