Christopher D'Olier Reeve was an American actor, film director, producer, screenwriter, author, and activist, whose only Disney-related roles included one of the Japanese pole vaulters in episode 221 of The Muppet Show; a guest appearance on The Muppet Show in episode 418; Frederick Dallas/Phillip Brent in the 1992 Touchstone Pictures film Noises Off, and a cameo appearance in The Muppets Go Hollywood, contending with Charles Durning for a chance to dance with Miss Piggy. He also made guest appearances on Sesame Street in 2000.

He also appeared in the Road to Avonlea episode "A Dark and Stormy Night" as Robert Rutherford.

Born in New York City and raised in Princeton, New Jersey, Reeve became interested in acting at the age of nine and studied at Cornell University and the Juilliard School. He made his Broadway debut in 1976 with A Matter of Gravity. His major breakthrough came with the titular role of Superman/Clark Kent in the 1978 film and its three sequels during the 1980s. His other films included Somewhere in Time, The Bostonians, Street Smart, The Remains of the Day, The Rose and the Jackal, and Village of the Damned. While struggling to find film work, he continued to find steady work in theater with shows, like The Front Page, The Marriage of Figaro, Fifth of July, and The Winter's Tale.

On May 27, 1995, Reeve broke his neck when he was thrown from a horse during an equestrian competition which paralyzed him from the shoulders down, and he depended on a ventilator to breathe. Despite this, Reeve returned to creative work, directing In the Gloaming and acting in the television remake of Rear Window. He also made several appearances in the Superman-themed television series Smallville, and wrote two autobiographical books Still Me and Nothing is Impossible.

Reeve died of heart failure on October 10, 2004, at the age of 52.
